BobT-47P15 Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 A fellow who lives in Peaster, Tx is trying to sell a 52 DeSoto four door-- don't know the price. He is also thinking of using the grille and wheel covers on his 52 Chevy. Just posting this in case anyone in that area might be interested in the Soto. I'm not acquainted with the seller. Plymouthy Adams Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 that pos chevy could use all the styling help it can get but it is a shame it is at the cost of a nice DeSoto...but then..its the HAMB..not much sacred over there... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 One or two of the hambers suggested he NOT remove parts, that a DeSoto is different and perhaps more interesting than a Chevy. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Bob I couldn't see the pics. Does one have to be a member to see them? Quote

I kinda got a little ticked reading that thread. Most of them guys could care less about saving a classic. Alot of Chebby lovers.Tom Quote

The only new car my dad ever bought was a 52 shiverlay. This was the first car I drove legally. I am partial (meaning I like) the styling of that year. I would buy one if the price was right. This one is the same color and body style as my dads. However a Soto grill is not required on this car. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 Ed, lets try this --- The DeSoto Wheel cover on DeS --- This is the Chevy owned by the poster. There were only 3 pics. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 I didn't think one had to be a registered HAMBer to view the pics, but don't know for sure. I am registered there. Quote

1940plymouth Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 I suppose this could be kinda off topic, but here is a photo of my youngest son's '51 Chevy 4dr sedan. He has had it ten years now, when he got it, it has sat in a cow pasture for twenty years or more. In the past ten years he has put alot of time and effort into it. It now has a small block 400 with a turbo 350 tranny and a posi rearnend out of a 1978 Camero. He has done all the work himself, none of it has been farmed out.. Hope you all don't mind me posting this photo, Bob Quote

I had a 53 station wagon as my first car, bought for for $125 hard earned dollars in 1971, and it was a pretty good car . I have a 50 4 door Fleetline (fastback) on a Caprice frame with 350/350. Not sure on the rear gears, as I got the rearend out of an El Camino, and it wasn't marked or tagged. Power steering and brakes, and is a very nice driver that will get on down the road. 1940plymouth Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Joel, Thanks for the kind words on Shane's '51. He has upgraded the brakes, but still has manual steering. Oh my yes, this car will surely move down the road also. By the way, I have another son that lives in Fletcher, Ok, we have been out there to visit four times, but not in the past five years. Quote

There always seem to be a lot of young men around here that have bought cars or trucks, and have great plans, (and like to come here and talk them with me), that tend to fizzle out over the long, hard haul. I think that Fletcher is southwest Oklahoma, down towards Lawton. We go that way on the HE Bayley sometimes down to Wichita Falls. I am located in the northeast part of the state, in Pawnee County.
