Joe Flanagan Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 I got up at six this morning and drove up to see oldmopar in New Jersey horse country. Ed had some good seats out of a 49 Plymouth that are now sitting on my back porch. He's also got quite a few project cars on his nice spacious lot. Ed's got the garage I wish I had (with a project truck inside). I didn't know you had wild turkeys in your neighborhood, Ed. Ten big black ones crossed the road in front of me not far from your house and I had to stop and let them go by. They took their sweet time about it, too. I'll be getting rid of some seats I have if anyone's interested. There is rust along the bottoms but could be repaired. I have two front seats, both without the bottom cushion, and the lower section of the back seat. They're in good condition except for where they contacted the floor, which is where the rust is. I'll post pics if anyone wants to see them. Just PM me. Quote
oldmopar Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Joe, It was good to meet you glad you had a safe trip both ways. While it is building up some we still have a lot of wild life here,as for the turkeys you should have took one home for dinner . Ed Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Geez Guys; Turkey/seats, seats/turkeys? Get your priorties in line:D I want to see some turkey pictures, hell with the seats............ Quote
greg g Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 A turkey though a good sized target at 20 or so lbs is not something you want tohit with your car. A friend though he had one nailde on the groundonly to have it rais up and smack him in the grill wiping out a healamp. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 These were big turkeys, let me tell you. One of them stood in the road and made some kind of noise at me. Gave me the hairy eyeball. I'm sure if you hit one at speed, you could do some damage to your vehicle. Quote

Joe Flanagan Posted December 11, 2009 Author Report Posted December 11, 2009 It was more like a screech. It was blood curdling, I tell you. Quote
greg g Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Ben Franklin proposed the Turkey as the National Bird instead of the goofy Blad Eagle. A fowl idea apparently. The snood and wattle apparently finding disfavor against the white feathered head of the Raptor. Perhaps a Turkey had scared old Ben also..... __________________ Edited December 11, 2009 by greg g Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 11, 2009 Author Report Posted December 11, 2009 It could have been worse. He could have lobbied for the buzzard or the grackle, which, while flying, has all the grace of a thrown potato. That turkey thought he was tough because he had nine of his friends with him. I'll bet he's not so tough when he's out on the road all by himself. Next time, turkey. Next time. Quote
greg g Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 Gobbler gangs, ya gotta be carefull!!!!! They have been known to overturn minivans in their quest for dorito crumbs and old fries. Quote

Joe Flanagan Posted December 11, 2009 Author Report Posted December 11, 2009 My sister in Massachusetts has a lot of them around her house. The big problem is their droppings. Large quantities and really nasty. Still hungry, Benny? Quote
