Bingster Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 I need to get four new tires for my 2007 Chrysler 300. I've been looking on the net at those guys who sell tires and ship them to you. Their prices seem a lot cheaper than local guys. Tire rack I think is one of them. Anyway, looking at reviews, it seems to me that for my size 215 65 17 that Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's are highly rated. Anybody know anything about these? Any other suggestions? I've got Goodyear Integrity's on the car now and they don't get such a high rating. I'm looking for a smooth ride plus good handling in rain and light snow. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 I do believe however with tire rack and other online tires that you have to have these puppies installed and balanced by on of their "recommended" shop in your area for the warranty to be valid etc...with the cost of shippping and adding this factor in..you better off with a local maybe who is having a specail sell ..watch the papers and such for ad/discounts/specials Quote
greg g Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 Now you can have them shipped to an installer instead of your house. I don't think where you have them mounted is an issue with warantee. check out these http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Ordern&cart_id=59745520.135.24037&typ=R-116642&ranzahl=4&Breite=215&Quer=65&Felge=17&Speed=S&weiter=0&Ang_pro_Seite=10&Transport=P&dsco=135&sowigan=GAN another buy and mail spot http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 My son has used Tire rack several times, even had shipping to Anchorage, and has always been very happy with them. They have customer opinions, ratings, and comparisons on their website so you can see how other people judge the tires you are looking at. Quote
Bingster Posted November 21, 2009 Author Report Posted November 21, 2009 That's where I saw the reviews. And there is an installer close to me. I called them up and they were very nice to deal with. There's no sales tax with Tire Rack. Of course shipping is $60.00 for four tires. But even with mounting and balancing it is still at least $100 + cheaper than any local dealer I talked to. Besides, these local dealers seemed to be more pre-occupied with the mileage rating on the tires and superficial stuff as oppossed to tire wear, handling, snow or rain, riding qualities, etc. It seemed to me that they handle whatever lines they offer and sell by price range. Those who handled Bridgestone knew next to nothing about the tire I wanted. I did get the best feedback from the reviews on the net. This is really the first time I took the time to research tires before buying. I usually just go in, see what's in my price range and that's it. I'm spending more this time to get a good tire that will last and improve my ride and safety. There seems to be a good mark up on tires. Tire Rack obviously buys in quantity and can offer a good discount. Quote
greg g Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 tires are like furniture, they are marked up nearly 100% by going through distributors to wholesalers to retailers. Probably where the on line places make their savings. by cutting out one level of up charging. Quote
