I was talking to a guy sunday and he wants my 1940 Plymouth coupe the car is in great shape, needs nothing. I told him it was not for sale. he gave me a price that oh my:eek: it made me weak. if he brings that to the house. There is a pretty Plymouth in his future. I love my car however I don't drive it as much as I would like to. I hope he doesen't bring it but if he does oh my poor Plymouth.....gone. Tune in tomorrow same bat time, same bat channel:p

I hope he doesn't come but if he does I hope it goes to a good home with no hot-rodding in its future. That is such a nice original car it deserves to be kept stock. I will tune in tomorrow to the bat channel to see what transpired.

I second that motion, if it goes, I hope it goes to a good home, not to be rodded.

I will tune in tomorrow also,

If you end up selling it, maybe, just maybe that '57 Ford will be in your future, two of my favorite cars, the '40 Plymouth and '57 Ford.

My Father had a red and black '57, I loved it, but he didn't

Sounds like the Godfather made you an offer you just couldn't refuse. In that case it's probably a good time to say goodbye to the 40. I wouldn't mind a 57 Ford either. Had a real nice one back in 64. Was a 57 Fairlane 2 door, three tone sky blue & white, with skirts. Put a 63 Ford Police Interceptor engine in it. That thing would scoot real nice after that.:D Wouldn't mind having another one just like it today.

My son had an impecable 68 Mustang, "California Special". He had the same experience. He asked me what to do. I asked him, what would you do with the money, he said I would buy a brand new toyota pickup, cheapest on the lock and use the rest to make certain I finished my education. He took the money, one year later it was worth half what he got for it. Today he has his own business in Maine, a restored '55 chevy pickup, and no regrets.

About a month ago, I was filling up my coupe with gas and a guy came up to me and asked if I wanted to sell it. I told him that every thing had a price. He told me a friend of his was lookung for a 50 bizzy coupe, and would pay me whay ever I wanted for it. He suggested 25 grand and I told him I would sell it for that, he said that he would call me, I am still waiting. Tony C

If not a '56 would this '52 be acceptable. Yours for $18,000.00 in Maine. Drove one just like it to high school, dad totaled it in an accident, lost the car but not my DAD. Good trade!

Rodney;

Take the cash and run. You will still be my friend.

Great stories, Jim I think if I did not have a car I would want to still follow this forum. I can't understand folks that get rid of their cars saying good bye to forum members. To be with or without my coupe that is a serious question:) I am in a state of utopia with this street rod. it's giving me a persective that I have never had. The old style car with extreme speed. Being able to speed past people in a single bound:rolleyes: You know how the modern era cars treat us on the highway. The coupe makes them all get back. I was at the garage today racking leaves and looking at the Plymouth, thinking of all those times I got so furustated trying to start it and fix everything on it. all the fun I had driving it. Then I looked at the street rod and forgot all about that crap:cool: Wipe the tears if the cat comes with the money...the car goes hahahah. You know if had only made a simular offer for that Studebaker then we would really be in it:rolleyes:He could have got that for half the price.

I forgot to tell you all about the 57 Ford convertible. Sad news, I was waiting for this guy to finish the red and white 57 convertible and I got the word that he has past. the car is not finished and since he and I were the only ones that knew of the deal it's dead and stinking. All you cats talking about the 57's in your past are very very lucky indeed. My Father had two and I can only remember one. The black and white one he had in the 60's. The car he and Mrs. Bullock went to the hospital in 1959 was a three speed manual shift red and white convertible with a 292 and skirts. I would have loved to have one like they had. I told my wife that I would make that the last car I ever got. Think goodness I did not get it because there must be other cars in my life before I stop collecting:D

Ok, I punked out. I can't see my creation:o I love that car. The guy has the money. I just don't want to see my car. I was very excited about getting my street rod. The Plymouth is my movie car as well. I guess now I can tell everyone what he offered, he offered 18,000 The car is worth that however if I sell it the car is gone and the money would just be in the bank. I love driving that car and enjoying it, I would miss it badly, very badly. So I'm keeping it ;)

By the way that car looks great( E-bay ) however it has that little 6 cly in it.

Yep you would probably kick yourself in the butt if you sold your baby. I know most of us here just love our old cars especially if you had it for along time. I know my Dodge it would take alot of cash for me to sell it. My asking price would be way above what its worth and so if someone did come up with the cash I would not feel so bad. I have had my old Dodge for nearly 22 years this year and well she just part of me!!!!!!!!

Rodney, glad you kept the car. Like Forest Gump said about Jenny......we were like peas and carrots together. You and the '41 are the same.

Goldenrod Garage in Freeport, Maine always has at least 50 or more autos for sale. Just for interest, you might go to his site, www.goldenrodgarage.com and view thier inventory, it changes all the time.

I was their last summer, he was getting in a '50 'fastback' plymouth this winter, I want to see it next summer. I think he is pricy, but his stock moves so someone has money.

Glad you kept the car. Have a great life

Now, if someone said that about me and my coupe, the coupe would definitely be gone. It probably wouldn't take anywhere near the price offered either. Those are two vegetables I never eat. Don't like those at all.:D:D

Rodney and his car are more like twinkies and milk shakes:D

Not to belittle Rodneys car but in my opinion eighteen grand is more than a fair price for his car.

Now, if his car is more like what you said, then it has to be worth more than the $18,000. I like twinkies and milk shakes myself.:D:D

There is one way to check to see the good price. Just go to the NADA site. But..........I'm like Rodney. If I can't get enough to buy another car that I like completely done, I wouldn't sell either. If mine looked as nice as Rodney's, I'd want $20,000 or more for mine, before I'd even consider an offer. Even though the NADA book on mine in perfect condition is only $16,000.
