DLK
My wife and I went to the Truman Library and I was particularly interested in seeing the two 1940 Chryslers Harry bought new that Chrysler Corp restored for the museum several years ago. I was surprised to see the engines were painted orange. I thought all MOPARS of that vintage had silver engine paint. I am sure I could get the answer by searching old messages on this and other forums but did find this surprising.
Merle Coggins
What were the engines used for? If they were connected to a water pump, generator, or something else thay may have been painted orange to match their attachments?
Young Ed
They are in cars. I have never heard of an orange flathead. But I would also think that the Chrysler musuem would know better. Only other colors I've heard of are the older 6s with a black block and either a silver or red head.

BobT-47P15
Possibly they were worked on by someone in the immediate area of Independence, MO who didn't know the correct engine color......and painted them what he thought they should be. Just guessing.
