Welcome to the forum, Nick. I think you will find it interesting on this forum as there are some real Plymouth lovers here and some interesting off topic dialogue as well. I appreciate you taking the time to join and your responses to this issue on the POC forum.

Again, thanks for your response. As you can see there is about 4x the interest and discussion here than there is on the POC forum. Which in and of itself is telling of something.

It seems to me that a proposal to allow, and encourage a drivers/touring class could be proposed and put up for a club wide referedum without the passage of a lot ot time.

This still could be based on the current judging forms but with some modifications and some simplification/combiations of classes. It seems now that there is no incentive for those who own and operate cars not up to factory standard to attend events. Being more open to "other than factory" might encourage mre folks to come aboard.

Perhaps a review of the Studebaker Drivers Club judging criteria might sugest a course to model after.

Greg,

I belong to the National Woodie Club. The club does not have judging at shows and welcomes all "woodies."

Here is a statement from the club regarding membership.

"Membership in the National Woodie Club is open to anyone who owns, drives or simply appreciates the wooden car. The club recognizes wood-bodied cars of any year, make or model, American or foreign, original, restored or modified."

It works for us. I find the eclectic collection of cars refreshing.

If someone takes the time, energy, and money to get an old Plymouth back on the road then I see no reason for them to be ostracized from the POC. If your car is a daily (or frequent) driver, some modifications help the car be safer in modern trafffic. It isn't economically feasible to bring some cars 'back from the dead' if 100% originality is the goal, so modifications are good because at least that's one more Plymouth that survives. Personally, I'm not in favor of massive modifications to a nice car (Troy Trepanian comes to mind) but that's another story.

A real POCO is a very good idea. If it is launched officially, I'll join.
