Plymouthy Adams Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 not everyday you see a set of steel skirts on the market... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1948-PLYMOUTH-DODGE-DESOTO-FENDER-SKIRTS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem4399ea1edaQQitemZ290345066202QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote
Normspeed Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Maybe early aftermarket skirts? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 have not a clue..these are the first steel I have seen out there is a long long time..fiberglass seems to be more the norm.. Quote
oldmopar Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I sold a old set I had a while back they were aluminum. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I imagine they are aftermarket......far as I know any skirts that fit these old Plyms and Dodges were aftermarket. Made by several different manufacturers. Foxcraft is probably the best known brand. Quote
Jacqualine47 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I've not bought any, but supposedly Agape Auto manufactures skirts and visors that will fit a 40s plymouth/dodge/desoto. http://www.skirtsandvisors.com/ Steel reproductions - brand new skirts are $225 a pair, brand new visor is the same price. Right now the ebay auction is close to $100, so it might be worth paying the extra just to get some that you know don't have rust hidden behind the paint. - Jacqualine Quote
Phil Martin Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I just ordered skirts and a visor from from agape. He sent me a picture and they looked pretty good. Haven't seen them anywhere else for that price. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 I bought a set of skirts for the Plymouth on ebay. When they arrived, they did not have the attaching parts on the back side. So, I made a clamp for the top, and just used a couple small screws at front and rear to attach them. Not quite as they should be, but are in place and don't look that bad. I think I paid $135 for them. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Those ebay skirts mentioned above went for $239. Quote
Jacqualine47 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Hey Phil, let us know how the Agape skirts and visor come out when you get them - I'm considering those as an eventual thing too. Quote
claybill Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 also look at BIG JIMS in texas. i think all these skirt people have a slightly different style/fit. some are level on the bottom , others have a flip. some are totally flat, others have a slight bulge.. bill Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 7, 2009 Author Report Posted September 7, 2009 I dohave a set of Big Jim's here for the P15..fiberglass and with a channel that interlocks to the fender opening for max rigidity.. Quote
mikemaker Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 I would be surprised if those fit a P15. They don't look quite right to me. I had a set that I think looked exactly like those but they did not fit my beater P 15. Maybe fit a DeSoto. Or, maybe I am wrong. glad to back on the board...it's been a while. cheers. Quote

Young Ed Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Mike you gotta make this more of a habbit. Been enjoying locking my plymouth up now. I think I do it more because I actually can then because I'm worried about losing anything. Oh and I even got to use the battery charger I believe you gifted me way back Quote
