Robert Horne
My first car was a 1954 Plymouth, in 1965. Have a pair of 1938 Plymouth coupes since 1986.
1955 plymouth
I bought my Peach '55 in Feb of this year. I bought my '50 Deluxe in March, along with my second '55 Belvedere for a parts donor. I must say I have not regretted purchase of any of my old cars. In fact, I am trying to work a deal on a '52 Dodge 1/2 ton pilothouse truck right now, hopefully I wind up in that club too. No, I am not a rich man, I work for a living in a Harley-Davbidson Service dept, I was involved in a really bad auto/motorcycle crash last October, nearly claimed my life, The lives of two others were taken in this crash, one being my oldest brother. I have used the insurance money from my totalled motorcycle to get involved in cars, which is something I have always been interested in doing, just never thought I could loose my life that quick, so I figure I better start having fun now because you just never know. rlovette
Some great posts here..and some great stories!! What about today's Chrysler products? How many have one as a daily driver? I don't right now-but am wondering how well they're built.
David Strieb
bought my P10 in jan '72, 38,000 mile car, 2nd owner. Now modified and my daily driver. got the '38 dodge half ton from a field in '83, mostly stock, drive it when I get tired of the P10. my '36 chrysler business coupe has been in the family since '57, I learned to drive in it. I've owned it since '03. A show quality car that I drive as much as possible.
DLK
Some great posts here..and some great stories!! What about today's Chrysler products? How many have one as a daily driver? I don't right now-but am wondering how well they're built. I owned four Chrysler minivans starting with an 89, then a 93 Grand Caravan, then two Town and Country's, a 1996 and a 2002. EVERY ONE OF THEM needed a transmission overhaul within 90,000 miles - I hardly call that Chrysler 4 speed automatic well built. Only the 2002 T&C was ever used for any towing so they were not abused.

Paul Hoffmeyer
My folks probably brought me home from the hospital in '43 in a '35 Plymouth. I learned to drive in their '46 Dodge 4 door. My first car was a '46 Ford 2 door in '61, my first Mopar was a '48 p-15 4 door. I have had several different brands over the years, but seldom without a Mopar. My current project is a '45 Dodge pickup street rod that I've owned since February of '66. daily driver is an '84 Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4. rlovette
Speaking of coming home from the hospital, my first ride was in Nov '71...in a '67 Monaco. Other Mopars on hand at the time include the '41 P-11....a '50 Imperial....and a '52 Desoto S-17 station wagon.
BobT-47P15
My Dad bought a new 1946 P15 four door sedan when they became available after the war. In about 1962 I bought a 47 P15 coupe from the local Chevy dealer for $35. It ran for another 4 years or so. Then bought the convert in 1973. During the 1970s, bought, drove, then sold several 50s Dodges, Plyms, DeSotos and Chryslers. Now driving my third Dodge Caravan since 1994. So, several Mopars over the years. JerseyHarold
There has always been a Mopar in our fleet. I came home from the hospital in my father's 1952 Cambridge, then he bought a new '65 Coronet. When I started driving we had a succession of Plymouths and Dodges that came and went (some got used, some got flipped). We had some '73 Satellite wagons, a few Fury police cars from the early seventies, and a really nice Plymouth Gran Fury undercover car (big-body style like a Dodge St. Regis). Probably should have held onto that one. I also have a '66 Sport Fury convertible languishing in the garage. There has been at least one (usually more) 1951-52 Plymouth here consistently from 1952 to the present, except for a few years in the late sixties-early seventies. We now have an '05 Dodge Grand Caravan that we bought in April......an 'auction special' from the government that was not one of my better deals.....I rant about it on a minvan board. Don Jordan
I know this thread is about played out but I just wanted to drop my 2 cents. My father worked for James F. Waters in San Francisco - it was billed as the largest DeSoto Plymouth distributer in the world - I never did fact check that. My father was the service manager and we got a new Plymouth every year. I have pictures of my father's new 46 Plymouth DeLuxe. Ever since I was a kid I wanted one. Of course through high school I was a Chevy fan. I've had an old car since I came home from Viet Nam ('36 Chevy pick up - daily driver). Now that I'm older and all the kids are gone and I don't have a boat I throw all my money into a 47 P15 2 door sedan and a 48 P 15 4 door. Which is all pretty silly because I always dreamed of a 46... ot: I went to the Pomona, CA swap meet - it's a biggie. Saw a guy selling license plate frames. He actually had one from James F. Waters - I couldn't believe it. sorry - didn't mean to go on and on.
Andydodge
Don, whats the apology for?......its good to hear peoples stories and things, this is what makes this forum enjoyable, I've never met you and unfortunately probably never will but, and its a worthwhile but, I feel like I know a little bit about you, & thats a good thing............so.....did you end up getting that licence plate frame?........regards, Andy Douglas
radioguy7
Bought my first Dodge in 1999, a 1954 Dodge M37 weapons carrier, learned to respect how those trucks were built or over engineered in fact. Bought a 1996 Dodge Ram 4x4 in 2001, then traded that in for a 2006 Dodge Ram a few years ago. When it comes to trucks I think Dodge has the upper hand over Ford or GM. rlovette
How much did you pay? The '41 P-11 (hope to post pics soon)--cost $100 and it came out of a North Carolina junkyard in 1970. Dad also bought a '50 Imperial about a year earlier for $200 from a preacher. It had a couple of bad pistons but he was able to get it running pretty well. BobT-47P15
The reason I bought my convertible is because when I was a junior or senior in high school in the late 50s....very early 1960s -- there was a P15 convertible in town. It was owned by a fellow who worked at a local filling station. That station was owned by the father of a friend and classmate. So, the fellow would on occasion let my friend borrow the old faded convert with the Dodge truck V8 and we would cruise around town being real cool. I always thought that was the neatest looking old ragtop as it had no rear quarter windows. So, after college, marriage, and now working as a sales rep for a tobacco company - I decided I would look for such a car to buy. As we all know, those 46-48 Plym convertibles don't exactly grow on trees......at least not in southwest Missouri. Looked all over the area for quite some time. Found two in salvage yards, in such bad condition I passed them by. (Of course they likely had a few remaining good parts, but I wasn't smart enough to nab them back then.) Finally found my car at a small salvage yard at the west edge of Springfield, MO, stored inside a small garage building. Surrounded by lots of valuable junk items accumulated by the owner. After agreeing on a price, making arrangements to pay in installments, and finally getting it paid for.......took four good tires on Plym wheels and my tow bar to get it. That was in June of 1973. The car looked like this when purchased. Looks just a little better now. And it still isn't perfect. A nice daily driver.
