Young Ed Posted June 29, 2009 Author Report Posted June 29, 2009 with any luck the holes will eventually be sealed up. she's sure toasty though! 202K miles on the clock. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 And I thought my business coupe was bad...Yow!! Looks like someone added a Ford courtesy light switch to the front door. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 That wouldnt surprise me. This car has all sorta doodads added on. Porsche backup lights, lucas tri bar headlights, JCW sidemarker lights, some kinda extra brake and turn signal lights, aftermarket window squirters, extra interior lights that come on with the switch you noticed, a homemade burglar alarm that is operated with a key next to the trunk, capacative discharge ignition, bosch fog lights, hood latch tab removed and cable operation added, manual choke, um I think thats about it. Now some of this stuff has been removed and more probably will be as I work on it. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I know where the headlights are....! Quote
wills 51 Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 WoW... You definitely have your work "cut" out for you, Keep posting your progress Quote
JerseyHarold Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 All those add-on's make the car a mild custom....VERY mild! Quote
Young Ed Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 Ya Tim glad you could get some use from those things. Guys even the headlights were rusty on this car. The steel backs were 1/2 gone. Someday I want to follow what you did only with some bullseye lenses. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Looks a lot like what I had. Maybe a little bit worse. Fixable, though. Definitely fixable. You're going to be a welding fool. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Welded in another piece of new floor support last night. Two done 1 to go. Noticed another thing about the car. Apparently this guy beat Norm to the bunch by about 30 years. His homemade door panels were ashtray delete and he left the armrests off. That explains why there was an "extra" set of armrests in the parts he gave me. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Do you have the stud piece the window crank goes on sticking out or did you remove it somehow? I would think having that sticking out would make it look like you are missing pieces instead of smooth. The no ash tray and armrest I get though. I may not put the ashtrays back either(not sure if they are in the box with the armrests). Another thought perhaps being a cambridge it never had the ashtrays? I just noticed the holes are there in the body for them. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Ah that explains it. I have no plans to delete the window cranks. Just the ashtrays if I dont have them Quote
JerseyHarold Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 FWIW, my father's '52 Cambridge four door, that he bought new, did not have armrests for the front doors. He told me they were optional. The door panels backers already had the mounting holes pre-punched. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 Update. The drivers side floor channels are repaired. I put the first piece of floor back in last night. It was a small piece that goes under the back seat and ties the wheel opening to the 1/4 to the floor. I've got to figure out a way to put the inner rocker in the correct place and get that installed. Anyone? Quote
