I ran across a batch of NOS and I have a few items without part numbers that I can not identify that I thought you guys might be able to help me with??

I suspect that this is an early vacuum shift assembly?? it is an autolite piece and NOS but shelf worn.

I can get measurments on the cable if that will help.

As for the UTE, it is either a Dodge, fargo or Desoto depending on the nameplates and compliance plate says. The only difference way the trim.

They look good all done up!

The "Piston Type" cylinder assembly is for the late 1942 Chrysler/DeSoto "Under-Drive" transmissions. Autolite Part# VP4001

Early piece of grille chrome?

Kinda reminds me of the 39 ply grill pieces. possibly also the short piece of beltline trim that went on the cheaper models

I had some other 42 Chrysler chrome pieces in the group so that makes sense.

I knew I was a bit slow but this is ridicules.

It must be a good 4 or 5 (maybe even more) years since I first posted pics of this Desoto Deluxe (coupe) ute and I have just realised the front bumper bar is in the wrong position.

The bumper is sitting about 2 inches to high. There is no way you could use the crank handle to start the engine if need be.

It looks like there is a hole in the front bumper that lines up with the hole in the front sheet metal if you look real close. Was the hand crank part of the tool kit? I have been trying to find a picture of a tool kit that came with every OZ built car but have had no luck. You would think that a few would still be with the cars but it seems they all were taken for other uses?

I agree Lee it looks like a hole has been cut in the bumper for the crank to go through.

I have never seen any pics of a tool kit either.

Crank handle came with the truck tool kit but not the car kits. (well not much use with the car as there was no were to put it)

I went through all of my photos and could not find another with the hole in the bumper and the factory illistrations do not show a hole at all. It would be hard to move the bumper up and what would the benefit be?
