msjenkins Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Already told you, I'm in. Just pick me up on the way through. Ok....gettin back on the project! The firewall is done and the rear end is figured out. I fabbed a Thunderbird IRS mounting system for Bryan's 48 dodge and was convinced this the best thing for my truck too. I'm racing on a natrual terrian and the Independent Rear Suspension will keep the tires on the road. The truck needs to be evenly wieghted. The wieght of the cross member and IRS will do this.I'm looking to make this a fun deal and want to invite club members to show up. If we can set up camp with a few original trucks and the racin' truck, we could have a great time.....just a thought. 48D http://www.saltflats.com/ Plus the thread I started on the Landracing.com: http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,7882.0.html Quote

Bob_Koch Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 Add my brother, Earl to the cause. I invited him earlier and he's planning on coming. So, that's two from Santa Rosa wanting to get salty. Are we going to do camping in the turn, or motel it? Quote
48Dodger Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 I'm thinkin motel...the camp site at the bend has no water/toilet/showers..... More of an RV spot. 48D Quote
buds truck Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 love to come, but 2 knee surgeries for the wife so far this year (today being one of the two) will curtail my travels again for a while. keep me in the loop on the progress and the results though Quote
Bob_Koch Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Tim, Got a motel picked out yet? I'm thinkin I want to get my reservations in before they get all booked up. Let me know a motel and what days you think we need to be there. A cheap motel is fine for me. Quote
48Dodger Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) working at a break neck pace to make the deadline to race. Of course the issue has always revovled around money, but I sold a few old trucks (ford) and got a repair job (97 Dodge truck) just intime to help fund the venture. I've been having friends stopping by volunteering their time, which has been greatly appreciated. I dont have completely up to date pictures, but trying to give an idea what's happening over here. Here's Bob Koch cuttin and grinding on a suspension part Afew pictures on how I box my frames. Plasma cut along the frame Weld and grind..... 48D Edited July 20, 2010 by 48dodger Quote
48Dodger Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 Got tired of flipping the frame. So I made a "rotessorie" out of two engine stands. I know I've seen this before somewhere, just can't think of where. I cut the "factory" wheels off and welded on a pair of wheels that stood 5'' from the floor to the bottom of the stand. why? The new wheels leveled the round tube for rotating. I then welded 2 x 4 sq/tubing to the flatplate. I still need to extend the necks upward to get it high enough to clear the running board brackets. Bob and I did a little heat shrinkin', still got a bit more to do. 48D Firewall done with Original hood rod mounts welded back inplace. 2 Quote
