dirty dan Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 I have the oem radio and no speaker. Can anyone tell me how to wire the modern speaker with the three wires coming form the radio? Quote
norrism1 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Model 801 radio the 3rd wire is for power. Schematic should show setup. Quote
dirty dan Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 Are you saying I can just tape off the wire that has voltage? Quote
martybose Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Are you saying I can just tape off the wire that has voltage? Yep, and a modern speaker will work just fine that way. Marty Quote
dirty dan Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 Yep, and a modern speaker will work just fine that way.Marty Coming from a guy named Bose...I'll take your word for it! Thanks Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 sorry to hijack your thread here, but can i use a modern speaker on my '40s 6V tube thingy, too? my speaker is missing as well.... thanks:) Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 you should be able to find a generic size speaker over there of the 8 ohm variety and install..as mentioned above the original has an electromagnet coil..no pernament magnet..thus if you use a pernament magnet speaker..do not use the power wire from the original pigtail and iso late from body ground. In the future should you luck upon an original speaker..you can quickly revert back... now go rip apart a few Grundig's or Telefunkens.. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 nice:D i have a 50s TV cabinet with huge speakers in it... i shall give it a try next week. yeehaw. those old radios haven't got any FM, do they? do you have these small radio emitters for mp3 players in AM frequency over there? i don't get any, plus they're illegal here anyway, i think... then i could listen to my usual dose of hank williams or jimmy rodgers while riding the 40:cool: Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Are they still that strict on transmitters? odd as the cell phone itself fits in that catagory. The device in question is so low in power and being contained within your automobile and thus limiting the the range..how in sam is it going to interfer.. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 don't ask me... maybe if the officer is standing right beside he can't hear HQ's lunch order any more. it's too late then, anyway... Quote
normanpitkin Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 hi , i just fitted my "new" 802 radio ,about £300 including the ipod connector and an ipod dock that sends out 12 volts even though the radio is still 6 volt ,I bought speakers and made a mounting bracket by bastardising the old one behind the dash.It works perfectly and looks completely stock ,the ipod goes in the glove box.Even the different coloured lights for the different tones work!!Adrian James is the name of the gentleman ,cannot recommend him highly enough! Captain Neon Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 I have a similar unit in my P15. Works great! I'm even able to have GPS, if need be with the 12v output. Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 sounds great, do you have photos of it?! Quote
