dirty dan
Are you saying I can just tape off the wire that has voltage?
martybose
Are you saying I can just tape off the wire that has voltage? Yep, and a modern speaker will work just fine that way. Marty

Cpt.Fred
sorry to hijack your thread here, but can i use a modern speaker on my '40s 6V tube thingy, too? my speaker is missing as well.... thanks:)
Plymouthy Adams
you should be able to find a generic size speaker over there of the 8 ohm variety and install..as mentioned above the original has an electromagnet coil..no pernament magnet..thus if you use a pernament magnet speaker..do not use the power wire from the original pigtail and iso late from body ground. In the future should you luck upon an original speaker..you can quickly revert back... now go rip apart a few Grundig's or Telefunkens.. Cpt.Fred
nice:D i have a 50s TV cabinet with huge speakers in it... i shall give it a try next week. yeehaw. those old radios haven't got any FM, do they? do you have these small radio emitters for mp3 players in AM frequency over there? i don't get any, plus they're illegal here anyway, i think... then i could listen to my usual dose of hank williams or jimmy rodgers while riding the 40:cool:
Plymouthy Adams
Are they still that strict on transmitters? odd as the cell phone itself fits in that catagory. The device in question is so low in power and being contained within your automobile and thus limiting the the range..how in sam is it going to interfer.. normanpitkin
hi , i just fitted my "new" 802 radio ,about £300 including the ipod connector and an ipod dock that sends out 12 volts even though the radio is still 6 volt ,I bought speakers and made a mounting bracket by bastardising the old one behind the dash.It works perfectly and looks completely stock ,the ipod goes in the glove box.Even the different coloured lights for the different tones work!!Adrian James is the name of the gentleman ,cannot recommend him highly enough! Captain Neon
I have a similar unit in my P15. Works great! I'm even able to have GPS, if need be with the 12v output.
