I was at a good friends house today, his 1950 3 window dodge would not start. we pulled the head and found that the valves were not moving. We will be pulling the 230 for a rebuild. After about an hour some other guy's come over, they are running a 1936 Dodge 360 street rod. They were followed by 1940 Dodge 340 street rod. They were being very hard on the antique. One of the guy's mentioned that they were looking forward to seeing my block of wood 1940 Plymouth:mad: I stood back and did not saw anything. After a while someoe says" well you know he has a Dodge" I got in my truck and rode home. I'm thinking that maybe I need to go down to the garage and make sure my Charger is up to snuff. It looks like this summer around here is going to be real hardcore. This weekend the coming out show will take place at the Farmer market in Hughsville. I will try to take some pic's.

Only those who feel threatened put down another Man's pride and joy.

Flatheads are great engines, these guys know it too. The 340 is great engine, but the Mopar Flathead 6 s are legends in their own time.................Fred

Rodney I have never had any street rodders talk down to me because I did not have a V8 in my car. That is crazy. Most car people I run across are just happy to share a hobby with others.

Best to ignore them, as Fred says they are jealous anyway.

Don't let it bother you Rodney, I have a good friend that always gives me crap about the way I am building my 50, with the 6 and the stock front suspension, but I keep telling him I like MY car the way it is and he has his cars the way he likes them. We all have a taste for what we like and if someone else does not see it the same oh well!

Rodney,

Below is a picture of the first time I took my coupe out to a local cruise in back in 2003. All of the cars at this place were street rods and hot rods, except mine. At the time, I still had the old front bumper that was cracked and needed replacing, the rocker stainless was off the car and the rocker was bare metal. I had no carpet or headliner in the car either. However, the engine and the rest of the interior was done. Now, this was a street rod/hot rod crowd. Not one of them said anything like what you said your buddies said. In fact, there were at least 4 to 5 people around the hood looking in and talking about how neat it was all the time I was there. They liked it because it was the original engine, just painted differently. To this day, I still need to do a little body work, but it's also been to other cruise ins, plus at least entered in two Goodguys show locally since then. I didn't even put the rocker stainless back on the car until late last year. So.......your 40 looks much better than mine, so I would just ignore them if they said something.

Rodney;

I thought your skin was thicker than that. Throw it back at them. Ask them why they need the two extra cylinders? You have more and bigger marbles than they do and your flathead six hauls your marbles around in style.

I get the same crap with my 1959 GMC truck, it has the 270 straight six in it with an offy manifold and a Holly 390 4bl carb and headers with duals. I've given some guys with V-8's a run for their money in a few drags. You would be amazed at what some guys can do to those old 6 cyl engines. I've seen some pretty impressive mods to flat heads as well. To me when at a show I like to see people go off the beaten track and mess with the old flat heads or 6 cyl engines. Gets boring if all you see are V-8's in a modified car or truck.

He guys:

I have a 39 Desoto that has all matchinh numbers with the trans engine, rear etc. I attend several cruise night with the street rods. i do not care what these guys fell or say about my car. Anyone can put a v8 in a car but it takes more effort to restore a car back to originality. I am very proud of what I have done and remember that if it was not for the old 4 bangers and the flat 6s those v8 would not have been onthe road. Also remember that my 39 6 has more hp that Fords early v8s. So go suck my exhust and just enjoy your car. When someones says something about my car I say give me the money to fix it your way or buy MY car.

Its your car and you do what you want to do with it we all dance to our own specila music and mine is a flat head 6.

great looking car. Love the 39 year when every make seemed to expirement with the headlamp shape.

So, mark your calender for September 23 26, 2009. The Plymouth Owners club is having their fall meet in Westminster, Md. The show is Saturday, and thoug yours is not a plymouth, they usually have a seperate area for other folks who show up.

Would be great if you could come out. Couple driving tours, and some of use will be doing our own thing, as well as some of th group activities. I believe several forum members form the NY, NJ, PA, and MD Del areas are planning to

attend. Friday night usually features a tailgate party in the parking lot by those in the know, which as of now your are.

I had to make a emergency run to the junk yard as this guy broke a head bolt. We got him one and started back, When I got back to his house there were a couple of guy's hanging out. He asked me about the evet that had happened earlier in the week. I did not have much to say then or now. I have a lot on my plate with the Trans AM in the shop and this guy's motor, preping it for the machine shop. If we take it apart it will be cheaper for him in the long run.

The coming out show will be this week end and I will have a chance to see those guy's then. If there is no rain I will pull the Old Dodge I have out of the garage. I wonder if they forgot about my old Dodge;) Sometimes people get so preoccupied with what they see alot of they forget what's behind the curtain:D

The junk yard is very muddy right now, it's not pretty:(

Rodney There is a fellow around here who is full of himself and a bit of a blow hard. Last year he was all over me about why I don't put a hemi in my coupe. He has a couple of cars one of which is hemi powered. So we were at a cruise site ad on our way to another with several cars. So he gets his rumoity rump hemi all wound up and does a burn out leaving the cruise site, I left shorlty after him. When we arrived at the next site, I got there ahead of him by 5 minutes or so. When he pulled in, I walked over and asked him what held him up, said Geez I thought you and your Hemi would have already been here.

He hasn't bothered me since.
