steveplym
Bob if that car was mine I'd get all the mechanical stuff fixed and drive the wheels off that car. Just enjoy it like it is. You can always worry about paint and interior later.
Frank M.
I am sorry for the apparent misunderstanding of my responses on this issue. I am just trying to explain the feelings of a Driver AND Show Car Member. Last time I showed in a National Show was a WPC Event. I did as Ive been doing since I first entered my driver and put a Do Not Judge card on the Windshield. I had a Lot of fun and many compliments. I believe there is now a class for Driver Cars. If I show again ---thats where i'll put the car. I never looked for an unfair advantage for my show car,but where was I supposed to put it? The only club I know for sure that has a class is the AACA. They call it HPOV ( Historic Preservation of Original Vehicle ). Again---I wish I could explain my feelings better, but thats the best I can do. I check this Forum almost everday, and will continue. The members are as most car people I have had the pleasure of knowing-----Great! Frank M.
Plymouthy Adams
there should be another class, the SURVIVOR This car is an unmolested example of a factory delivered car with little signs of wear and tear..these cars should be documented and left in that condition if and all where possible be as a guide line and reference for the restorer... let me explain further..if these cars were attributed the value they deserve the pressure on the owner would be taken away and justify his keeping it as such.. some particular specialty club are promoting this within their ranks now...and might I add the number of looks sees these cars get from owner putting one back to original..priceless..there are some things a picture or paragraph in a manual just cannot get across properly but a real live example makes it ring clear.. Flatie46
My car will be a driver and hopefully a daily driver.I respect what it takes to make a show quailty car and keep it that way.I have friends that own show cars and trucks they spend a lot of time and effort fussing over the finished product.I myself would rather have a car that I don't have to worry about scratching, thats why the flat black self applied paint will be my choice.I really like seeing these cars on the road, if you drive them they will get door dings and stone chips so I can see why if you spent a war pension on a paint job you would trailer it.I like to see these cars that are nicer than when they were new but I wouldn't want the added worry. There's all kinds of people into old cars, everybodys different but we've all got somthing in common.
Mechanik
Thanks for the backup Steve. I was beginning to wonder if I was a loner in the Forum. Wife and I have packed up the 47 Chrysler, and been gone for as long as two and a half weeks at a time. Not much room in a convert for stuff, but Landro-mats are all over,so no prob. Also have pulled a car behind the motor home to Iola Old Car Show a lot of the 27 cosecutive years we have attended. Before the motor home we used a 40 ply coupe the 47 convert and a 48 Chry. club coupe. Either way----It was always fun,and we will continue till the kids stop us. Im 80 now,so that may be not too far off. Frank M. Well as long as I'm around Pops, I will see to it that you can go wherever, whenever U want to! (except on the roof to clean your gutters) ;-)
T120
Good question Fred. The Plymouth has been repainted in the past and the gray is a shade lighter than original. The firewall and under the hood has the original gray. According to the plate on the firewall the original paint code is 4008.
55 Fargo
These cars could be declared Heritage Vehicles by the Federal Government. Then you can't just do what you want to them......
