Countryss Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 anyone ever deal with oldmoparts.com? I just ordered some door handles and stuff and seems to be a good guy to deal with. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I ordered some parts a few weeks ago and had no problems, good to deal with. I know there are others that have a different story. Quote
Countryss Posted March 21, 2009 Author Report Posted March 21, 2009 what was the condition of your parts? Quote
47heaven Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I looked up the oldmoparts.com and saw that it was Andy's site. I've noticed in the past that the same kind of question, like Countryss', was brought up, but instead of oldmoparts.com, Andy B. was used and a whole onslaught of negative responses followed about their dealings with this gentleman, including myself. Is he getting better? Quote
aero3113 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I will be ordering some more things in the near future Quote
Countryss Posted March 21, 2009 Author Report Posted March 21, 2009 so far he seems fine. I ordered in the morning and called back in the afternoon just to check something and he said that he already had it shipped out. I will let you guys know how it goes when I get the stuff. Quote

No, it's just his phone skills and return policies weren't the best. Quote
adam_knox Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I've been using Andy B for about two years. He's been great so far. The only disappointment I've had is when I bought the weather strip lining for trunk. It was slightly different than the original (in manufacturing. The original had a glossy black coating.). And really that was a non-issue as it works fine, and that's the only stuff everyone sells. He's thorough about making sure the part fits your specific make and model. Ships fast, so if you forget to order something call back right away to make sure it gets shipped in the same batch! Quote
Andydodge Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 I've been dealing with Andy Bernbaum for over 20 yrs and have always found him o/k to deal with and would & have recommended him to others looking for Mopar parts. I know that its a bit of a pain in the bum for some dealers to ship outside the US(I'm in Australia) but he has been o/k in all my dealings.........thats not to say others haven't had problems but he has been fine fo me and I've probably made about 15-20 orders overs the yrs......maybe its because my name's Andy also.......lol.........andyd Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Andy carries a lot of parts for my '35 that I can't find anywhere else. I've had a few snafus in the past but he has always rectified them. I'm in the process of trying to get a new drag link from him right now. The part he sent did not fit my car. It's possible he sent the wrong part but it is also possible a PO changed out my front end to one from a different year. In any case, he has been VERY cordial and helpful in trying to get the correct part. I'm thinking he has either turned over a new leaf or started taking his "happy pills". In the past, even when he was a bit gruff on the phone, he has always either delivered the parts or refunded my money without hassle. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Several years ago, when I needed to replace my rear wheel cylinders for the first time I didn't know that the entire rear end on my car was not a 47 Plymouth unit - but was (as it turns out) about a 39 Dodge item. I ordered cylinders from Andy's - he sent the correct models for a 47. But, when we went to install them, we discovered they weren't the same as the ones on the car. When I called Andy's, he said to return the 47's and also send one from the car. I did, and he then informed me mine was from a pre-war Dodge, possibly a pickup. He then sent the correct things, charged me a little more since pre-war is higher, and they worked just fine. He has always been a little curt sounding on the phone, but does seem to know his stuff. Have not purchased much from him besides the wheel cylinders......did recently buy another set of new Dodge cyls for spares. I gather that rubber items, such as windshield and other gaskets, are not so good. Would suggest looking elsewhere for those things. Just my experience with AB - for what it's worth. Quote

While not cheap, Rare Parts in Stockton, Calif., will be able to find or make your drag link. If they don't have it, then the can take your existing one and use it as a pattern to make a new one. Once they have the pattern/drawings, they put it into their catalog and can supply it to others. Believe it or not, they make the drag link for my 1933 Plymouth. They make it because a fellow with a 1933 Dodge needed one and went through the process. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Well, countryss, you have not gotten around to posting the make of your car in the upper right of the forum space, nor on your signature line. Also not in your profile.......so I can't recall what car you have. On my 47 Plymouth, the interior handles are held on by a small steel peg that is slightly tapered. All you need to do to remove handles is press in on the door panel behind the escutcheon plate to expose the end of the handle . You should be able to use a nail or an awl to push the pin out from the bottom side. Quote
Countryss Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 hey sorry, its a 1946 dodge sedan. also I made a mistake its a clip on mirror not cowl mount. i called moparts back and asked him he said it clips on to the door itself. that being said i tried it and wasnt able to move the mirror enough so that it would point up more so it was showing more of the street then then the street. claybill Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 maybe your mirror is for the pass side.! the mirrors that have little flex might be differrent per side! bill Quote
