My wife drives a 93 Taurus. If I were to sell that car it would probably not bring $2500 even though it is in very good condition and runs like new. It is not ready for the crusher yet.

I have seen American car dealers offer $2500 trade in on any car regardless of condition. How does this German program differ?

Scrap metal for cars in my area went to an all time high of $10.00 per 100lbs a lot of good plymouth parts got crushed, the bottom fell out though and it's down again. I would gladly send my 348000 mile jeep to the crusher for $2500 but would hate to add the payment. I wonder how these artifical economics are going to hold up long term.

The Germany 2500 sounds like the "Gimmick", car dealer here have used for many years. Dealers will give you 2500 or more "discount" if you will pay Full Price for a vehicle. Rebates, dealer discounts, free this and that, and employee pricing, are just more of the "Gimmicks" used to get you to purchase a vehicle.

Meh, come the next tax time our government will be giving away $900 each to the majority of Australia's population more for family's and single parents etc , its a sliding scale the more you have the less you will get.

I say thank you Kevin Rudd your stimulus package will help me towards buying the engagement ring for my girl.

About time I got something back off them ... even if it is my own tax dollars
