Mick Blake Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Looking for one for my 1948 Fargo 1/2 ton,has any one installed one from Roberts? Quote
Young Ed Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 The consensus on the 39-47 forum is that the cardboard ones don't last. Guys seem to be having good luck with the ABS plastic ones from www.quietride.com I haven't bought from them yet but I intend to in the spring. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I have patterns if you want to make your own out of better materials than the Roberts one. Quote
Mick Blake Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 Reg, I would be interested in the patterns. Mick Quote
Vintrader Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I have patterns if you want to make your own out of better materials than the Roberts one. Reg, I also would be interested in getting a hold of a pattern. My 52 did not have a headliner at all and I have been thinking of fabricating one but have nothing to go from. Dutch Quote
MBF Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Reg-please add me to the list-I've heard good things about the results folks have had using your patterns. Mike Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Reg, what have you/others used as an alternate material for making the headliner from the patterns you have? I will eventually need to address this area in my '52 and I was curious about what has worked for those who have tackled the replacement process. I would be interested in the patterns too. Let me know what you need for them including shipping. Thanks, Dave Quote
Phil Martin Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Quiet ride catalog only shows headliners for power wagon in 48 on up section. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 http://www.quietride.com/docs/dodge_truck_catalog.pdf This shows dodge trucks from the 30s to the 70s Quote
Phil Martin Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Showa acoustic kit but I don't find the headliner for pilot house. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 The example at the bottom looks like they have headliners for 48-53s but you are right I dont see them up in the list. Quote
Phil Martin Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Price wouldn't be bad if they had them for pilothouse Quote
Young Ed Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 You may want to call them and see whats up. Glad mine is listed Quote
48Dodger Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 reg, I could use a pattern too. I live in the area, I could stop by and help you with your new headliner business.lol. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 Looks like a 2 hour drive but if you're game by all means come on up. You can have a look at my heavy metal. PM me either way. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 There's a place called Rod Doors that supplies materials for making your own door panels (and should work for headliners as well). They sell ABS plasic in sheets for doing this. Here's an example: http://www.roddoors.com/pages/dp-uni.html They seem a bit pricey to me. So, I look at Tap Plastics and they sell ABS plastic in sheets as well. 2X4ft sheet is $16 - 64 depending on the thickness desired. The nice thing about ABS is that you can glue it together easily to make bigger pieces. They also have PVC sheets for about the same price. Shipping can add up, but we have a Tap plastics right here in town so that would work for me. Looks like they're mainly on the west coast, but you might have a similar platics store around. Here's some links if interested: http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=335& http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=343& Quote

Jim Shepard Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 PS - 48dodger, we can meet on HWY49 in Sutter Creek. Quote
Reg Evans Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 That would be great guys. Just let me know. I'll be gone this weekend though. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Hey Guys, Can we set up a tentative date for the spring time and give an open invite to those in the area to join us? A few of us could meet at Jim's place in Elk Grove and we'd pickup a few others in Sutter's Creek or elsewhere along the way. I think Reg's garage is big enough to hold us. Right Reg? Quote
