I know this was covered somewhat before, My question. Roberts sells 8 ft lenght's of window channel, 1 with stainless bead and 1 without, does the one with the stainless bead bend around the window without kinking? I'm not concerned with the window sweeps as they are strait. Also on a 47 P15 club coupe how much is needed for both doors, I'm sure 8 foot is enough for the back. Jim

yes it will curve without a kink as it is lined with a filler wire...go lsow and easy though is still the answer to shaping this stuff.. I think you will find that the sweeps are less than 32 inches in length because of the vent making this run short thus have them precut it to 32 inch sections to save shipping..also for the flexible that is beaded..be sure to get a measurement but on my 54 Plymouth I was able to go with the 6 foot section thus saving on oversize shipping cost..

Tim, can you explain a little more how you bent this stuff. I have had some for my '38 Chrysler for some time but have been chicken to bend it as I figure I will ruin it. Any help appreciated. Others will likely benefit from your experience also.

Robert...first step is to measure its to the original..it will clip along the top of the window frame..it usually secures to the rear of the door via a stapled/riveted clip that snaps into place...this exact length is the key to non floating strip...next you can curve the material using the original glass as a template...as an added note..this stuff has been cut with a sheer of some kind or by yourself with a wire cutter..make sure that the ends of the bead is filled smooth so that the opening for the wire to protude is not blocked..I did the ones in the 54 so fast and easy just by using the older as a quick template...I even drilled the holes in place of the original rivet and used stainless safety wire to wire the replacment in place..very smooth, quick and such...aslo another area to pay attention to is if you should have to make a 90 degree bend..while this is easy yet using the glass per say...watch as the cloth may want to come loose from the rubber..no biggy..just put a touch of contact cement on eact surface and let dry..then just press one to the other..instant pernament bond..do not ever make the mistake of using contact cemet (yellow glue) wet..this stuff is designed to be applied to each surface independently..left to tack up and then allowed to bond...

The local glass compant where I got glass cut had the channel in stock on big rolls. Was cheaper and no shipping cost. I am not sure if they had the one with stainless bead. If you have a glass shop around that does cars I would check.
