Rodney Bullock Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 I was driving the 40 Plymouth, when I make sharp left and right turns at 40-50 mph I can hear the tires squeal what would cause that? What kind of alinment change do I need? Quote
Young Ed Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Rodney I think you need to slow down. Quote
greg g Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Air em up. When was the last time you had a squeeling problem (no Deliverece references Coatney)? I bet they are just soft from sitting. Unless you been banging off potholes or something. Quote
claybill Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 the obvious answer is low tire pressure...but that only happens with the newer low pressure tires...i had squeeling on my 60 impala....total alignment needed. it was way off...and cost only 60 bucks! bill Quote
Niel Hoback Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Funny thing, Rodney, when I make sharp left and right turns at 40-50 mph, my tires squeal too. It does it not matter what I'm driving. So, why are you making sharp turns at 40-50 mph? Maybe you should just turn the radio up. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted January 31, 2009 Author Report Posted January 31, 2009 You all are so wild:cool: Maybe I exagerated a little I could be going about 10 mph:) I can hear the wheels just squeel. I had a front end alinment when I first restored the car. I will check the air pressure What should it be? around 32? I cured the other problem, it would tilt on two wheels around turns so I started riding the wife more:eek: I know the ladies that read these post think I am a horrible husband however I am only kidding, I kid....half the time. p10plymouth Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 I would suggest you recheck the alignemt... Most shops will set your toe.. and charge you for a full alignment! Unless you find a shop that can print the readings you could be chasing your tail.. I have a 40 my camber was off did the same thing replace the rear springs after that ..specs where right on, car tight , tires set to 30lbs... before I did all this work I check with all the local aliment shops and they all told me to live with it... I called some "big name" restoration shops advertising in Hemmings .... They told me they would not worry about it.. SO if you are worried about it do the above .. It will find and tell you the problem.. oh so you know when I drive 40-50 and make a sharp turn (i do hear tire squeal) other that that a land boat smooth and drives straight with Original type tires.. Normspeed Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 My tires don't squeal but sometimes my passengers do. Quote
