David Maxwell Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Brian, the Special Ed (severely disabled) class is directly across from mine. Believe me, I wouldn't trade my gig for the Spec Ed. teacher ever. You guys earn your money!!!!! I am a Special Ed Teacher to a group of severe students at our local public middle school. I teach daily living skills to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level students. Sometimes, I feel like the highest paid baby-sitter in the county! I have 9 LONG years to go till retirement. Quote
Captain Neon Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Nothing as exciting as some of the other jobs. Been driving semi's for about 30 years with a 4 year break to sell Mac Tools. That was fun, other than trying to collect money. I still have a few K's out there. Collection agency has been obtained. That's one of the reason's I got out. I could say something about about dishonest auto shops, but I will refrain. Quote
46mopar. Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 I'm the head of maintenance for a ice cream plant owned by a grocery store chain. Thats right free ice cream.... Quote
Captain Neon Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Since I chimed in earlier, I have two years "experience" as a Quality Assurance Supervisor in the Food Manufacturing industry. Ten years as a Quality Assurance Technician. Currently working at a cannery (chili, cheese sauce, and Vienna Sausage). Ten of my twelve years have been at slaughter plants (turkey - 3.5, pork - 6.5). I've lived in four states living the dream (MN - 8, AR - 2.5, CO - 1, MO - .5). After 11 years of being a grizzled veteran, I'm finally a full-fledged rookie. Quote

grey beard Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Retired high school ag/diesel instructor. Before that, worked as service school instructor for Ford Division of FoMoCo. Before that, worked as an excavating contractor, service manager, auto/truck tech. Also published a hobbyist magazine for the antuque tractor hobby for twenty years while I held down my day job. If I'd known how much fun it is, would have retired much sooner. Only problem now with retirement is you can never quit . . . . . . :) Quote
PatS.... Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 After a long career as a professional driver of everything from 18 wheeler to a Handi-bus and everything in between and then as a crew/truck dispatcher/scaleman/loader at a large asphalt plant, I am now a caregiver for a 54 yr old Down's Syndrome man. Totally different from anything I've ever done, the lowest paid job I've had in 30 yrs, and by far and away the most rewarding. It's really something knowing that what I do now actually makes a difference I can see in someones life. To heck with the money, this is way better. Quote
epix1718 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Analytical Chemist.. just graduated college so my first real job. Quote

daddyo23 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 I could say something about about dishonest auto shops, but I will refrain. Just like everywhere else, 95% of the shops and guys were great. It's the other 5% that make you want to do things you may regret (or not:rolleyes: ) Quote

Don Coatney Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Weis Markets we also make some for Food City and Kleins Kosher. I spent several years in the maintenance end of dairy plants. A few of those years were spent in Allentown, Pennsylvania for Beatrice Cheese. Quote
greg g Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Danville huh? I was in town about a month ago to pick up a car for the dealership I work for occasionally, got stoped by a train going through down town on the way out. Had lunch at the overlook in the park across the river when we were traveling to NC 2 Septembers ago withthe P15 for the POC meet. Climbed up the hill without a worry, coming back down the hill was a bit iffy as the trunk was full of stuff, so we dled dow in low gear. Was through again on the way to Reedsville for the Studebaker Swap meet in November. Hafta give you a shout if I'm coming though the area again. Shopped at Weis Markets when we lived in State College, worked for Penn State when I got out of college (during the Franco Harris era). Ypu might have to revise your signature, one of our members has run his D 24 at Bonneville to a fairly good result. Quote
aero3113 Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 Part of my job includes finding qualified maintenance for the aircraft when they are away if they need it. Right now I have been making calls and sending e-mails to Russia to see if I can find someone to change a worn main tire on the GIV. Anyone want to go on a road trip??? Quote
