Jeff.P_46 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Here are some progress pics of Betty. Had to make shims for the rear end to get the pinion up because I didn’t take the time to check the position of were the spring mounts road on the springs before I welded them. I thought the rear end pads set at the lowest part of the spring. You can also see the under floor master cylinder I installed. The engine is all plumbed and wired now. I’m trying to finish the rest of the wiring so I can start it, I am about 75% done. I installed an EZ-Wiring fuse block and made a large enough mount to add some relays for the electric fan and door solenoids. Since my stock gauges need some work to be functional again I am adding some under dash ones for now. You can also see one of the ABS kick panels I made, need to add some hold sown clips but it sure bets the old rotten masonite ones. I'll need to this in several threads to load the pics. Jeff Quote
pflaming Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Every time I see a car on rack I get envioius, the floor is hard to get up from. Very neat work. Will be a great car when finished. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 What engine? S.B.Mopar? not likely...look closer Quote
dezeldoc Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 What engine? S.B.Mopar? Now I feel like someone shot me through the heart!! No another chevy 350/350. Nice work though. Quote
John Burke Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Having done a similar swap in my 49'er I can say this is about as nice as they get....congratz....John Burke Quote
Jeff.P_46 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Report Posted January 5, 2009 I would have put a 318 in it but I already had so many Chevy parts that I couldn't justifiy spending the extra money. Jeff Quote
moparjack44 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Now I feel like someone shot me through the heart!! No another chevy 350/350. That just ain't right, BUT, it is his car. A 318 would have really been sweet. Nice work. Keep us updated, I love pictures. Jack Quote
Normspeed Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 She would be even more of an eye catcher if you installed those cool Rocket 88 valve covers and a big olds air filter. Quote
aero3113 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 That's funny I call my car "Betty" also Quote
dezeldoc Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Just giving you a hard time Jeff!! It looks good, I am worse than you I put a MBZ Diesel in one of mine, talk about wierd!! Quote
moparalltheway Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 What engine? S.B.Mopar? How could you? At least put a slant-six in her. I will lay awake tonight trying to figure this one out. Quote
woodscavenger Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Love it! can't wait to see more picks. SBC, who cares? If we all had the money and expertise then HEMI's all the way but these days it often comes down to bang for the buck. Quote
moparalltheway Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Whatever! BLA-BLA-BLA Yes a Hemi would be great. I thought only the Ford guys put Chevs in there cars? Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 I wish SBC stood for small block Chrysler;) Quote
Jeff.P_46 Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 I do have 2 flat heads, one out of my '61 W300 (I did put a 318 in it) and one out of a '46 dodge truck that we scrapped on the ranch I grew up on (I've hung on to it for 30 years), but they both need to be gone thru. The Chevy was the easiest to get it back on the road in the least amount of time. Jeff Quote
Jeff.P_46 Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 I also have these non Chevy projects but it will be a few years before I can get to them (and no, I won't be putting a Chevy in them Jeff Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Nice iron Jeff! Plenty to keep you busy, busy. In the bed of the B&W PW, are those 6-lug artillery wheels? I see that type of rim a lot on hamb hotrods. Quote
Jeff.P_46 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 Yep, they are artillery wheels Jeff Quote
Grandadeo Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 She would be even more of an eye catcher if you installed those cool Rocket 88 valve covers and a big olds air filter. Maybe with a little trial and error you could cover the chevy valve covers as Norm was saying with something like a pair of Poly valve covers. Lee Quote
moparalltheway Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 As much as I hate to say it they make Hemi valve covers for sbc. I guess the chevy guys got fed up and a company is now making them. Look real nice. Quote
