We were fine here until we got hit with the freezing rain last night. No big thing for an ol' Minnesota boy, but I'm not gonna shovel and chip every road that I'm drivin' on. I live close enough to walk and the cannery still operated despite the weather.

It's one thing to get a foot or even two of snow in Minnesota. It'll get plowed out soon enough. Here, they've got it sort'a figured out. In California, well, "What's a snow shovel?, plowing a road? We're not plantin' any thing, What's 'HEET?'"

We had a California boy working with us when I lived in Minnesota. He was looking forward to snow because he thought we took three or four days off after a big snow (>1" according to the expert from CA). My other favourite was, "Since we work second shift, it's no big deal, right? We don't have to shovel because it's all melted away by noon."

Needless to say for most of us in these united States, it was an eye-opening winter for that kid. He ended up moving back to California as soon as he managed to scrape together a few bucks.

I passed through Barstow on Dec 1,hauling a car back from southern California.-stopped in Barstow for a burger at Del Taco - other than some nasty weather passing through the mountain passes in Montana,I had a great trip.Just lucky I guess.

Fred the twin cities is predicted to have 75 inches this season. I'm starting to believe that will happen with how frequently its been snowing this month. I think the average is 50-60.

I think the Winnipeg area has had around the 15 inches of total snow fall for Novemebr December 2008

Hi,Sorry I didn't contact you.It was my first time through the area.I hadn't travelled south on I 15 further than Pocatello, Id in the past and this time of year I feel rather lucky that that the weather was okay other than passing through Montana on the return trip when it got quite nasty. The nice thing

about I 15 in Montana is there generally isn't much traffic.A few cars had slid off the highway, but nothing serious. My wife passed on making the trip(probably has more sense).I'd love to head back that way - in the summer. The scenery is stunning through Utah.

Hi Ralph, I also have driven this route from Winnipeg to LA, one time in my younger years I left Winnipeg in the wee hours of a Saturday morning, drove all the way to Idaho Falls by Saturday night, then slept in a Motel , Contiued on Sunday morning, pulled into Glendora California Sunday night, now that was a long ride I have never repeated. This route is very scenic..............Fred

Ed we have recieved about 4 to 6 inches of the fresh white stuff since last night. Just got back out here from Downtown Winnipeg, took the kids to an 1890s Vaudeville theater( Pantages Playhouse Theater) for a childrens Christmas show.

The streets of Winnipeg are cogged with traffic, with all the Holiday Shoppers and such, could't wait to get out of the city, the highway was slippery as you know what 45 to 50 mph all the way home................fred
