After reading Greg's link, it looks like the real deal. I imagine it will go for more than $100,000. Not long to wait as the auction ends today.

Seems Jay Leno is one of the top bidders (Q&A at bottom of listing) I don't think this guy quite knew what he had when he listed. I wouldn't want it for free, thanks.

lost on this, the car has no engine, needs a lot of work and is over 85.000$?

What would the price be when complete?

John

They say they know where the original front clip is, and the original engine, so if they were all reunited and the car restored?

Maybe add a zero to this auction price for a restored ballpark price at the right auction.

To think this guy had a Buy It Now of $4000 at the auction start!!!!

These cars were built just before GM pulled the plug on official corporate support for racing. aparently 12 were made, 6 wagons, and 6 2 door sedans.

They went to dealers then to promenent Pontiac drag racers in those regions.

Engine should be the Super Duty 421 with 2 4bbls. These were made to compete against Mopar 426, chevy 427, ford 406 ad 428, in what was then the Super stock class which then gave way to the Factory Expiremental class which became funny cars. These are considered rarist of the rare, because oly the dozen were built. Pontiac also built the Swiss cheese cars which were 421 Catalinas which had lightening holes drilled just about any where where they didn't overlap. The Plexiglass widows and the front clip if it is the one reffered to in Fla. give credence to its authenticity. The front clips were either aluminum pieces or sheetmetal pieces that were acid dipped to reduce their thickness and weight.

In highschool I owned a piece of a 62 Plymouth 413 factory car. It was a direct competitor of these Pontiacs. It had aluminum front bumpers plexi side windows with nylon straps to raise and lower them, Delete everything, the back seat was basically a pieces of vinyl covered cardboard. front seat was a taxi style bench. Sold my interest to pay collee tuition, lost track of the car and the last guy around who was inthe gang of 5 remembers it being sold in 1972 but can;t remember who it got sold to. Wonder if its still around??

I guess if the LENO is interested in this one it might be the real deal.
