aero3113 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I think my transmission is leaking a little bit, I want to use Lucas stop leak in it, should I put the whole bottle in it? Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 What kind of transmission is it?????????????? Quote
greg g Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Where do you think the leak is coming from??? I would get under clean it all up good and look to find teh source. My guess is if it is a transmission oil leak it is probably the gasket between teh trans and the bellhousing (or lack there of) as usually, these units are pretty leak free. Quote
aero3113 Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 I drained and filled it last october, got under the car the other day and had to add about 1/2 quart of gear oil. Thats why I think it is leaking. Quote

aero3113 Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 yes I know that but right now dont have the time to pull the trans just want a quick fix till I get around to it. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 yes I know that but right now dont have the time to pull the trans just want a quick fix till I get around to it. Sorry. No quick fixes known to me other that adding oil as required. Quote
aero3113 Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 I cleaned the transmission and it looks like there is a hole in the front of the transmission that has a slight leak. I think I read in a past post that it is the same size as a dime and to seal one in it. Anyone ever do the dime trick or just use some sealant? Quote
Normspeed Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Like this? There should be a gasket between the trans and the bellhousing but it won't cover the hole in the second pic. 1 Quote
Frank Elder Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 How much coffee did you need to get that dime in Norm? I see 2 cans of beans in the background, are those your backups? Really neat trick! That is old school, the first guy that thought of that probably was mad he had to spend a whole dime to fix the leak. Quote
aero3113 Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 Nice, thats what I will do !! Quote
