  1. Thanks for the insight on the springs, now why does my stop plate move. This is a hole on the underside of the stop plate but no hole in the shaft? Dis 1.pdf
  2. I have been trying to get my 218 to start, but nothing yet. I noticed that the rotor was not fixed to the distributor shaft. When I took the distributor apart, I could not find how the stop plate stays fixed to the shaft. I also notice that my distributor shaft has threads on it while the pictured shaft from the manual does not. I also see that my counter weight springs are not matching, but at this point I just want it to start. Thanks
  3. Definitely smudge pots, because designed to burn kerosene and you could touch them without getting black smudge on your hands
  4. Thanks for the links. So, I am not thinking spinner rims or low profile. I want a stock look, so if I get 15 inch rims, what aspect ratio will look stock on say a 7 inch tread width, 65-75??
  5. This is great, now what is an offset, and do I want one or not? I have seen zero offset mentioned, again I do not speak tires and wheels. Thanks
  6. Ok, I am getting my B2B close to road worthiness, I have decided to swap out my existing stock wheels and poor tires for some modern wheels and tires while I refurb my stock wheels and get the hub caps. So while cruising ebay and craig'slist, what am I looking for? I want the tires and wheels to look close on the size perspective to the stock wheels. So what am I looking for? I see a lot of references to jeep parts and dodge dakota's. I don't speak wheels and tires, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is what I have today.
  7. I want to be sure I am at Top dead center, but with the timing chain cover on, I want to be sure. So I am assuming that by removing the valve cover for cylinders 1-3, I can see the valves open and close. I know the second valve from the front is the fuel valve, so as it closes I assume that the cylinder is at the top of its travel and therefore I am at TDC?? Thanks for any input..
  8. Is there any specification for the springs,as I need to replace them. Thanks
  9. Ok tore the engine down, added new vales, rings, gaskets, etc. lined up oil pump per manual instruction, then went to put in distributor and rotor points to ten o'clock. Where did I go wrong? Thanks

  14. Can anyone tell me when the speedometer cable goes through the firewall and into the cab? Picture if available.
  15. Now that makes sense. Got it thanks.
  16. Thanks, this is a great help to me. Now explain to me what does timing have to do with pumping oil. I am sorry but maybe I spent too much time on my '29 AA but I can't imagine pumping oil to the correct timing can help start the motor.
  17. Guys, my engine is all apart, about to go back together. How will I know if I put the oil pump in the right way? Is there a notch or mark I nned to be careful of?

  19. Andy bernbaum had them for 3 speed for $17.00. http://www.oldmoparts.com/parts-transmission.aspx
  20. I have removed the transmission cleaned it all up, painted it, looks great. Now I need the paper gaskets that go between the transmission and the bell housing, the transmission and the shift tower, and the transmission and the emergency brake bracket. Does anyone know where i can get these? What weight oil goes in tranny, 600 like my 29 ford? I also need to replace brake lining on emergency brake, any source for these? I did find a $9.00 speedometer cable at napa that fits perfect, 63 inches long. thanks
  21. what was the length, As i have nothing to compare it to. Thanks
  22. Will the Ford cable fit, I find it hard to believe that back in the day, these parts weren't standard.
  23. Thanks, great picture. Does anyone know if I can use a standard cable or not?
