I've got this door fitting really nice and everything welded up on the bottom. Now for some grinding, smoothing, and filling and I'm ready to move onto the next one.

After a thorough soaking with engine degreaser and some serious power washing things are looking pretty good. The suspension and steering are all solid with several newer looking parts, and all the grease fittings were in good shape and took grease. The frame is all solid except for the front cross member which had a ton of mud packed in it. The bottom and back of it are gone and will need some serious rebuilding. I've got some steel plate that I think will work good, the only downer is that the motor will have to come out and the suspension will have to come off to get at all the bad spots. Also ran a quick compression check and have 120-140psi across the board so that's a plus.

Great pics! I dont know about a purple P-15 with a deleted bumper, though. It's not doing much for me. That Chevy Kingswood wagon is really nice looking!

Thanks, Don. Good advice for sure. After seeing the condition of the brake lines and suspension i"ll probably take a lot of this apart, clean it up,lubricate it, and replace the lines. The wiring is pretty much junk, too. Im pretty good at finishing the projects I start but I'm counting on you guys to keep me motivated so it doesn't fall by the wayside. I'll give myself till the first of the year to have it on the road.

That's a really nice job, Kbuhagiar. If my latches had been good i'd have stayed with them but they were pretty much junk. I'm hoping these locking handles work out. If not, you've got a good looking solution. Where did you source the little lock with the removeable cylinder?

Thanks, Bob! Yeah, I think shiny and new wouldn't work on this. Thanks, though.

Springfield, MO swap meet & HAMB drags this weekend

Darn!! I'm moving my son to college this weekend. -
Cool, I need to look at that closer. Hopefully that means it has a better chance at running good. Now it needs to go back outside for some serious power washing and degreasing. I'd much rather take them apart while they're clean.

As far as the handles, there's serveral different styles of reproduction handles on Ebay that lock. I havent picked a specific one yet but the late 30's Ford ones look pretty good. I just have to figure out how to make the handle fit the Plymouth trim plate that it mounts to. What kind of locking system did you end up going with?

Its got one; that's a plus!

Yeah, no bumpers or radiator. I'll come up with something. I figured this was the easiest way to get at everything. You can pull the whole front clip by removing 8 bolts so it was a no brainer. Lots of cleanup needed but the good news is I put a wrench on the balancer and the motor turns freely.

This is the outer skin from one decklid, the inner support from another, and a whole lot of patching. Still a ways to go but at least it's all in one piece. I painted the insides of both before we put them together. Also Im planning on one piece windows so I cut out all the vent window supports and patched in the factory lock hole. It'll have locking handles when Im done because the factory locks wont work with the bear claw latches.

Good advice, thanks!

Just what I needed; another project. But for $400 bux I couldnt say no. No fancy plans for this one; just get it to run, drive, and stop safely and clean up the nasty interior so i can stand to sit in it. I'm going for the ultra cheepo cruiser. Has anyone had one of these steering boxes apart? This thing barely turns; i hope it can be dissassembled, lubricated, and saved.

Hah! No sneezing problems but I did learn not to wear tennis shoes while welding. That little ball of hot metal sure smarts when it burns through your shoe and lands between your toes.

Truthfully, i did spend a couple of weeks deciding what to do and finally decided to throw caution to the wind and try it. A decent MIG welder and a little ambition goes a long way. Luckily this time it went in the right direction!

Ok, the deck lid is finally coming together after a lot of work. While Kyle's taking care of that mess I started looking at what to do with the doors. The sides and top fit great but the lower edge stuck out pst the body line and I was all out of hinge adjustment. Since I had to do some minor repair anyway on the door bottom anyway, I sliced it about 1/8" wide from end to end on the bottom, pulled it together with a clamp, and welded it together. It came out much better.

I do like the tailfins; moonroof would have to go. Lots of potential, though!

If you weren't so far away I'd pitch in and give you a hand.

I dont know; it looks like your car is way farther along than mine. I hauled it here in pieces four years ago and still haven't heard it run!

You're doing a great job on this; I'm going to the boneyard to look for that K-car seat! Dont know if there are any left around here or not. Beats the heck out of trying to restore the original.

I'm trying to stay busy despite the heat. It don't look like it's going to let up anytime soon so we're all just trying to live with it. You get used to it after a while, just sweat like a dog and take a lot of showers. This week I pulled all the parts out of the attic storage and went through all the chrome to pick out the best of what was there. I stared cleaning up and painting POR-15 on everything that's not getting body color paint; insides of the fenders, the bottom of the bumper filler panels, bumper brackets, etc.

Of course I'll pray for her, Tom. Why dont we all stop and do it together? Psalm 41:3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. Father, we thank you for the gifts of friendship and compassion that you have blessed us with in this little community of ours. We lift Terry up to you and ask that she be healed of the sickness that she is suffering from. Give her strength and peace, and guide the hands and minds of the physicians who are caring for her. We also ask your blessings on Tom; that you would strengthen him during this time as he cares for Terry. Bring them both closer to you and closer to each other that they may find comfort and refuge in your grace. We ask this through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Same here, Bob. I looked through a lot of pictures of Plymouths with different amounts of the trim removed and decided the best look was to keep it all. I cant stand when someone paints the grille, bumpers, and headlight trim all body color.

Very nice! I've got the Fatman spindles, too.
