  7. Do you know how long the car has been sitting before you picked it up? The rings could be stuck or worn allowing some oil to pass by. Did it smoke the whole ride home or did it stop after a while? You may want to do a compression test on all cylinders and see what you get. Its an easy job to hone the cylinders and put new rings on if you need to. While you are in there you can replace the rod and main bearings if you have low oil pressure also.

  17. It is ok use, I have the same one on my engine and the passage is not used. The bump on the front of the gasket sticks out the front of the head a little bit. Almost three years and no issues.

  23. A machine screw with a standard head (standard screwdriver). That front seal also has 2 small rubber seals that go on either side. The seals usually come with a new oil pan gasket.

  25. If you go to an auto store they usually sell an assortment of springs (maybe 5 different springs) in a box for around $5. One in that set will fit.
