  1. Your gas gauge will need one. And our amp gauge, if you're using it. I think you need the ceramic reducer for the heater. Wayne P.
  2. That's too bad Ed, but at least ol' reliable came through:)
  3. Had a '64 chebby p/u with a 3-on-the-tree. Was out running around one day and the shifter handle broke right where the pivot ball goes into column. Looked in my toolbox in the back (always carried tools with that truck) and pulled out my six inch #2 phillips. Fit in perfect. Picked up another lever, same thing happened. After that, I just used the screwdriver. Worked fine. Good anti-theft device, too. When you parked, just put it in your pocket. Wayne P.
  4. Norm, I agree but if enough of the guys from this forum go to the POC, I'd have to go for at least one day to meet them, including you. Wayne P.
  5. Speedway sells a carb sync. tool. About $25. Wayne P.
  6. Wally World has Schumacher chargers that are 6+12 volt for around twenty bucks. When I've run the carb dry or it's sat for awhile, I just pour a little gas down the throat and it'll fire and pull the gas up. Wayne P,
  7. That's what I did. Turned until they felt "tight", but not too tight. After about 100 miles, I re-checked them. Just gave them a "snug tug". They're at about 14-17 ft lbs. Wayne P.
  8. More than likely, but Back To The Fifties is the same weekend. Decisions, decisions.... Wayne P.
  9. Could you explain abit more or do you have any pics? Wayne P.
  10. I think the static cling type go on the window. If that's the kind, I'd take two. Wayne P.
  11. Check the plug wires.
  12. Ed, If the other was a 4-door, I'd go in with you on them. Heck, maybe we should anyway. I think Jack has a little room in his shed;) Wayne P.
  13. I think next step is 100- then 500. When You get to 1000 ( I think) you hit top dog status.
  14. That's too bad... and too young.
  15. 2 lbs. in front and a 10lbs. in back. Don't know about the car, I always pay too much and sell too low..... Wayne P.
  16. I'll second that. Hope everyone is safe. Everytime I've talked with Charlie he has been friendly and very helpful. Wayne P.
  17. Mine is just the Banana Boat for now. If it does get painted this year, I'll have to figure one out. Maybe have a "name that car" thread. Who knows.... Wayne P.
  18. Right now everything is stock. I'd like elect. ignition, but I'm keeping it 6 volts. I do have a dual carbsetup with B+B's and an exhaust manifold waiting for it after it gets rebuilt. I'm doing .060 over with .050 off the heads. I'm looking at different grinds for the cam, but, that will come in time. I'm going to re-check timimg and air/fuel mixture. Right now I believe I have it set at 2@ btdc. Wayne P.
  19. It does seem to clear up after it's been running slower. I had to idle along in traffic for 30 mins. before I got to the track and it did o.k., it seemed a little rich. Good point. I was thinking about the way it warms up when I'm running at highway speed. Thanks for the advice, guys. All will be tried in the next couple of days. Wayne P.
  20. Thanks, Norm. I was going to replace the line when I drop the tank. I'll change the filter, too. Sometimes I'll see the fuel bubbling up in the filter, very strange. Anyway, in a couple of months the old gal is getting a big makeover. Hope to post progress as I go. Just have to learn the best way to post pics, not the brighest bulb on the tree when it comes to 'puters.
  21. The car, that is. Last week took a 450 mile trip with no big hassles. It did heat up abit when I was pushing it,I'd slow down and she'd drop back to 180. The problem I did have, and today also on a 100 mile trip, is I'd be flying along, enjoying the ride. When I had to come to a stop, I would have to jab the pedal to keep the rpm's up 'cause it wanted to die when it idled down. Now, I think it may be because I have a leak in the gas tank. Air is getting in, so the flow might not be kosher. So I'll put this out here for the experts to chime in on. The idle is set at 550. Any other ideas? vacuum leak, maybe? Any suggestions will be avidly read and appreciated. Wayne P.
  22. The new one looks cool with the chop, too. James is one class act to share his stash with you. That's what makes this site the best. Wayne P.
  23. sewing machine oil would work. It's a bugger to get up there to lube, though. I'm about ready to pull it out just to make sure I get some in there:mad: It seems to squirt everywhere but there. Wayne P.
  24. I think I got a pair of socks older than you, Ed.
  25. I'm with Niel. Have a rough idea, but I don't care. I do as much as I can myself, pay to have done what I can't or don't have the time and equipment to do. Nowhere near done, but she's runnin and going on a 500 mile trip Saturday. Not like some did recently, but it'll be a good run on the ol' motor. Wayne P.
