I got a much nicer "Bob Falfa Skull" for the rear view mirror and figured out why my bucket seats had such a low-rider Snoop Dog rearward incline to them which was sort of ridiculous. Apparently the person who reupholstered the buckets did not put the inch thick black rubber bumpers/spacers back at the bottom of the seat back and that inch at the bottom translated into several inches at the top of the seat back incline wise.I bought the set of four and installed them now I can drive comfortably what a difference it made.

This lift once was in a shop on a steel plate floor, they used a torch to burn it free and in doing so left part of the floor plate still welded to each of the lift`s two posts. I chose to leave the extra steel in place as it gives a larger "footprint" to each post. The posts each have four very large Thunder-Bolts anchoring them to a concrete pad that was designed and poured to accept a two post lift.

Amazing how that "horse-Collar" grill that also was referenced as part of the female anatomy just destroyed the sales of what was actually an "ahead of it`s times" car. It became synonymous with being a loser and Don Knots used a droptop Edsel as his ride in both The Andy Griffin Show and movie The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Put a set of light blue fuzzy dice and a blue number two pool ball shifter ball in the 69 today. I thought of Don Coatney when I hung the fuzzy dice, I remember how much he hated them with a passion.

Been working on the 69. The fuel injection system had a now discontinued fuel filter and a bad #3 injector. She's feeling much better now.

I had a sharp eyed buddy since high school who still has the 67 Chevelle we used to go to school in point out to me the doors and dashboard on my new car were from a 1968 Chevelle positively. This caused me to do more research and I found the Streetside Classics consignment listing that my friends cousin bought it from in May 2019. https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles/1408-nsh/1969-chevrolet-chevelle-ss-396-tribute Finally I got the nerve up to call the guy who built the car, I have 2in stack of receipts with his name address and phone number on them. It rang about 20 times and he answered, I told him I thought I had his car and wanted to know if he would answer some questions about it. He had a heavy Tennessee accent and was very slow in his speech and thinking but he agreed. My first question was the 68 parts, he laughed and explained that he built this car for himself and that he was duplicating the car that he had as a teenager and it was a 69 that was cobbled together with 68 doors and dash. He said he never planned on selling it but said that life changes. He said he had the 402 BBC already and brought it to the best hotrod engine shop in Tenn. and had it redone with nothing but the best to go fast. He said it was set-up to produce 500hp and everything about the car was done with the very best components. I could tell that he was tiring and while I stirred up some good memories for him I could tell he was struggling. I asked him when he sold the car and he said many years ago and then he said maybe 2017. I have receipts of his from 2018 when he was still building the car. I thanked him profusely for building such a beautiful car and promised I would take good care of it. I then asked if he would mind if I called him again sometime if I run into an information dead-end on something about the car and he said sure. I found the engine work receipt and it is impressive just like he told me.

While waiting to get my engine back from the rebuilder I had another bucketlist opportunity present itself and after some tricky negotiations with the wife I was able to swing it. It is a 1969 Yenko SS427 Chevelle Tribute/Clone Car. It was built in Tenn. by a gentleman that spent $90014.00 putting it together, I have a stack of receipts as thick as a phone book and he kept records like a book keeper. He then sold it through Streetside Classics on consignment and my Buddies cousin bought it from them while fighting terminal cancer, Was told he only drove it a few times before he passed as he was so weak. I bought it from his Widow last Monday and brought it home yesterday. Part of the deal I made with the wife is I have to sell my 1957 B210 project car which I was never gonna get around to completing and my dream of shipping it to Mexico to be done over went out the window with covid 19. I also bought a repo modular 12x24 garage from a loan company to keep the new addition in.

Engine rebuilder finally called me in to see my dissembled motor and go over what he had found. I was amazed to find out my 1967 motor was the newest one in the place. He was finishing up a 38 Plymouth six and in line behind mine was a 40`s Cadillac motor that arrived in several boxed and baskets. I also found out that the Quaker State oil of the 60`s and 70`s was the worst oil you could possibly use in your car. It has the highest paraffin wax content of any oil on the planet. My motor was a textbook example of the premature damage and wear this oil caused back in the day and why this motor was done by 79,000 miles. Luckily the block, head-core, crank and piston rods are good, everything else gets new parts. Happily the replacement parts are readily available and not very expensive as engine parts go so I`m looking at about a $2100 bill for the rebuild. I was very impressed with this shop and the work they turn out there.

This lift was sold by Snap-On for $1899.00 and featured the foot pump on the 8ft hose so you could work better alone by moving the pump where needed. I was the third owner of this lift and paid $200 for it from a mechanic friend of mine that no longer does engine swaps, he had paid $600 for it a few years back. When it blew on me I did what I had to do but that night I was on the internet and discovered this was a common age-related problem with this lift and Snap-On no longer stocked the needed repair parts and their service centers no longer rebuilt them, a $200 job when they were still doing them. I found a blog by another guy with my lift that had the exact same experience as me and happily someone answered him about the HF 8ton ram everyone uses as a replacement. It can be hand pumped or air driven with a 6ft airhose with a trigger on the end so it also is easier to work alone with it and I don`t miss all the jack pumping.

My numbers matching 67 Malibu Sport Coupe with the 250 straight six. has been waiting a couple of months for the machine shop to have an opening to rebuild my engine. I have a snap-on blue point engine hoist and it got the engine up a foot and then it suffered simultaneous seal failures in both the lift ram and the foot pump. It was spewing fluid like Jed Clampet`s oil well . I was forced to lower the motor back down push the car out of my shop and go old school in the driveway to get it out. Of course I was working alone and it made for a very long day. The engine rebuilder was tickled to get the 250 and was looking forward to rebuilding it.The guy has a great reputation and I needed to be a friend of his friend to get the engine in to him. I went online and found out repair parts are no longer available for this lift and everyone replaces their blown lift rams on these Blue Point lifts with an air driven one from harbor freight. It actually fit perfectly and works great for $80 with a coupon. So it`s back in service and I will be putting it back with the engine hoist.

When you place a bid you are asked just how high you are willing to go. After you have done that ebay will keep your offer as high as needed, when someone else goes higher ebay automatically advances your bid to keep you on top up to your original posted high bid you registered with them. The best way to win on ebay is with a "sniping service" like auction stealer. They wait till the last 8 seconds of the auction and then puts in your bid for you and if you have the highest offer no one has the time to outbid you. Bidding wars between buyers benefit no one but ebay.
