  1. It is well known that the oil pan end gaskets will stick up above the pan surface and should not be trimmed. However, the FSM says they should stick up about 1/8". Mine (Felpro) stick up more than 5/16" above the surface, which is well over 1/8". So in this case, should they be trimmed to match what the FSM says?
  2. I went to the local Fastenal, which has the widest selection in our town, and they didn't have a replacement. Close, but not close enough. They had nothing closer available to order, either. Believe me, coming on here and bothering other members for one was not my first choice! ? But, I'm very grateful that Keith stepped forward with his offer.
  3. Yeah, I had checked into that, and from what they tell me the part is no longer available and will not be. ?
  4. Thanks Keith, that's very nice and much appreciated. Send me a private message letting me know how much $ and how to send it.
  5. Here's a view of the whole carb...
  6. 1957 Plymouth 230. I am missing a screw from the carb that the pump arm pivots on. It is a shoulder screw...item #1 in the diagram. Anyone happen to have a spare I could buy?
  7. Sure sounds like an ignition timing issue to me.
  8. You might want to check with someone like Bernbaum's. They might be more likely to get you the right ones.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure pretty much any oil works fine. If you're interested, Chrysler officially recommended SAE 10 oil.

I bought one, but have not completed my engine rebuild, so haven't got a chance to try it yet. Hopefully not too much longer! ?

I agree with Sam about worn bushings in the distributor...doesn't seem likely your old and new cap would be defective in the exact same way. My 1957 FSM lists max shaft play at 0.008", which is about 0.2mm.
  12. Sometimes it's worth it just to go to your local machine shop and pay them a few bucks to press something out.
  13. Strange. I ordered a tube from Bernbaum a couple years ago and it was painted black and fit in my 1957 230.
  14. Someone may have added leaves at some point.
  15. The first thing I would do is check for spark while it won't start...then you'll know which direction to go.
  16. I agree with Sniper: just match up your existing regulator to the pics.
  17. It would make sense to do it that way, but there's nothing in the instructions about the original piece, and I don't see any way to mount it on the HEI dist. Do you have a pic of how you made that work? Thanks!
  18. Yeah, I didn't quite understand that, either. I don't see anything wrong with asking a vendor what their service includes.
  19. Glad to hear it works well for you, Andy!
