  1. You might want to adjust the gear selector rod. It is the threaded rod to the transmission. When my transmission would only shift into first and reverse, I adjusted the nut on that rod and solved the problem. Jim Yergin
  2. Don, i hear there is a gentleman named Goerge Asche who may be able to help you. Sorry for the delay in responding. Jim Yergin
  3. Chris, That is correct, my kit did not use Eldorado calipers. I believe the rear end is the same but I do not know that for a fact. Jim
  4. Chris, I installed the AAJ kits on both the front and rear of my '41 Plymouth and was pleased with both. The rear uses the original brake drum hub so there is no parking brake other than what is at the rear of the transmission. I have since replaced my rear end with one out of an Explorer and I am using the disc brakes that came with it. If you would be interested in my AAJ rear brake parts plus the rear hubs just send me a PM. Jim Yergin
  5. I believe the replacement gasket has a split at the bottom so that you can fit it around the input shaft without having to completely remove the transmission. Just pull the transmission back enough to fit the gasket in. Jim Yergin
  6. Does George Asche have any suggestions? Jim Yergin

  8. On my '41, there is no space where the running board meets the front fender. There is approximately 5/8" space where it meets the rear fender. There is a solid round spacer between the running board and the rear fender. Here are some pictures. Jim Yergin
  9. Bob, Interesting and well done. Thanks for sharing. Jim Yergin
  10. The annual steeple chase races at Montpelier, Virginia were held this past Saturday. The races are held on what was the estate of James Madison in Orange, Virginia. It is a fun day of tailgate picnics and we try and go every year. This year the weather was beautiful and it was a perfect day for tailgating with our 1941 Plymouth wagon. That's my friend John's 1965 Mustang parked in the space next to ours. Also on the grounds was this Plymouth pick-up truck. It was a nicely modifed truck. The engine had an Edgy head and dual carbs. 11. Chet, Looks fantastic. Now you can really enjoy the car. Jim Yergin
  12. I had the same problem with my '41 Plymouth. Discovered the power to my brake/turn signals was less than 6 volts. Ran new heavier gauge wires to the rear and that fixed my problem. Jim Yergin
  13. I built my 230 using a 218 Plymouth block and the crank and correcting rods from a 1948 230 Dodge. I sourced the 230 flywheel off eBay. Jim Yergin
  14. There is a new show on the Velocity cable channel called "Reality Rides," It is following the restoration of a 1955 Buick. This past week's episode dealt with the replacement of the rockers. You might want to check it out on this web site: http://www.carlscustomcars.com/page6/page10/page10.html Jim Yergin
  15. Did you spot any overdrive transmissions? Jim Yergin
  16. The drive gear on the end of your speedometer cable may not have the correct number of teeth to match your rear end axle ratio. Sounds like you need one with fewer teeth. Jim Yergin
  17. I have front and rear disc brakes on my '41 Plymouth and I am very pleased with how they work. Jim Yergin
  18. Thanks Rich. Jim Yergin
  19. Thanks Chet. Jim Yergin
  20. I wonder where Wikipedia got that number? Even the 201 that was in my '41 P12 was rated at 87hp. I would think a 230 should have more hp than that. Jim Yergin
  21. Joe, Thanks for the heads up on the Roberts' rubber. That was what I wanted to know. Rich, "to play sometimes we all need to pay." No problem if "we all" want to pay for my running boards but, as you said, cost is an issue if it is just me paying. Jim Yergin
  22. My driver's side running board rubber needs to be redone. Has anyone ever used the replacement rubber sold by Roberts Motors? Jim Yergin
  23. Looks great Joe. Jim Yergin
  24. I see now that my guess that the original wire size was 14 gauge was just that, a guess. It could very well have been 16 gauge. I agree it could also have been a defect in the wiring. The important thing is that it is now fixed and the cars behind me have a better shot at seeing my brake lights and turn signals. Jim Yergin
  25. Rich, I appreciate your suggestions but the lights are working properly now. As I stated in my reply to Greg, I have clean dedicated ground wires from each light unit to the chassis frame. For what ever reason, the undersized wires were not supplying adequate power and the new heavier gauge wires do. Jim Yergin
