  1. That is so cool! I always wanted to run a lunch truck and that would be perfect!
  2. I don't know if those are correct for a 51-53. I don't believe mine have screw holes.
  3. Hey Mike, Did you go to the show yesterday? There were several 49-50 trucks and a 52. I have a 1/2 ton front axle waiting for a project if you need it. Scott
  4. That looks awesome! Keep up the great work!
  5. Cool sleds! My parents had a few sleds growing up. They started with two Alouettes and then moved to Polaris. Dad still has a '72 colt free air 295 that's in pretty good shape. I've often thought about pulling it out of the barn and tinkering with it but I have too many projects already, lol.
  6. That is the nicest custom grill I have seen for one of these trucks! Nice job!
  7. I went yesterday for a few hours. I'll try to post the pictures tonight. Mike, the barns aren't as full as they used to be. Some of the stuff was sold and some was just parked there until the owners had a place for them. But, there is still a ton of stuff laying around. My favorite item is the steam powered crane. The show is always the weekend prior to and the the weekend of Fathers Day.
  8. Anyone in the Upstate NY area may want to come see the 2012 Gas-up. Here is a link to their FB page https://www.facebook.com/gasup I'm going on Sunday and I'll get some photos to share.
  9. Wow! Trip down memory lane for me looking at your tractors. My dad used to be a dairy farmer (still has the land but is retired from milking now) and he had a few tractors like yours. I know of 2 8N's, a 9N, a Fordson Major, A Fordson Super Major, a 801 Diesel, and a John Deere 1010 Dozer. He still has the last two plus some newer ones. A Ford 5000, a 5600, and a 6600. I hope to get and restore the 801 diesel someday and would love to find a Fordson Major to restore. Loved that tractor. I'm attaching a picture of my then 2 year old son on Dad's Super Major the day he sold it.
  10. Great project! I'd love more info on your front suspension installation. Did you have to move the wheels forward to put it in or was this just for the weight distribution/ride factor. I heard in your video that you had to add material to the sides of the frame to accommodate the wider crown vic front end, could you elaborate a bit more on that? Also, did you need to use the big truck fenders because the car front end was wider or just because the wheels are farther forward? Actually, are you using the entire big truck fender or just the flares over the wheel openings. I ask because the big truck fenders are longer and I wondered how you would mount them. Thanks and keep up the good work and videos.
  11. That's awesome Tim!
  12. One more thing. You will want to use a 6v relay. not the 12 volt ones that are commonly found in auto parts stores these days. I found some on ebay for around $30. I ma sure with a little searching you can find one cheaper. Scott
  13. OK, Thinking out loud here. Please jump in and correct me if I am wrong on this. You basically wish to kill power from the ignition switch to the engine as an anti-theft device if I am reading this correctly. I believe I would wire the relay as follows. Run power from battery negative to the radio switch. This could come from a power source under the dash that was always powered. Two wires from the other side of the radio switch. wire 1 to the light bulb with the other side of the bulb run to ground wire 2 to #86 on a 20 amp automotive relay. # 85 of the relay should be run to ground. The wire from the ignition switch should be connected to #30 on the relay. The wire going to the engine bay would be connected to # 87 on the relay. Basically, you would be cutting the wire that goes from the ignition to the engine and connecting the Ignition switch side of the wire to #30 on the relay and the engine side of the wire to # 87. This way, when you turn on the radio switch the bulb and the relay would turn on and in turn the relay would then connect the wire leading from the ignition switch to the engine bay. I use www.madelectrical.com as a reference and source of electrical parts for most of my project vehicles. Visit their site, it is a wealth of info. Scott
  14. Use the radio switch to turn on/off a relay that would handle the load. This would allow the safe use of the radio switch.
  15. Wow, wish I could have started with a truck that nice
  16. Well, I sorta complied, lol. Pushed the '51 outside and cleaned the garage to make way for our Camaro that was supposed to come back from the body shop on Saturday. That never happened so we pushed the old truck back inside. My son had fun steering it while my wife and I pushed.
  17. Couldn't you just base the location/measurements off of the lower hole for the bumper bracket? It appears to still be a part of your existing frame.
  18. downeast, that is one nice looking ride!
  19. I really like that Dart Pioneer! Very cool looking car.
  20. That's awesome! My son did the pinewood derby 3 times as a cub scout and it was a lot of fun. I like to see the original ideas others come up with and your sons is definitely cool. In boy scouts, troops now have the option of running an event called Blast Car. The cars are bigger and powered by CO2 cartridges instead of gravity. Ramps up the fun to a new level
  21. I'm not sure about the running boards but I believe the '53 bed sides are the same as the 48-52 just that they have a different hole pattern for the fenders.
  22. Restore - Push it back into the garage for an extended period of time I was never in the restore crowd. I modified every vehicle I ever owned, some more than others. I call them resto-mods. When I got my '51, I planned to flip it but the darn thing grew on m before I could sell it. This is the first vehicle I plan to bring back to stock. Notice I didn't say restore. I didn't use that term because I am sure some of what I do will not be original as the truck was when it was new. I'll have to use other types of fasteners in some places, replace parts with aftermarket pieces that are close but not NOS, and there is no way I'm using lacquer paint. If I finish this truck it will be similar to what Mark is doing with his. Scott
  23. That looks great. Keep up the good work and post lots of pictures
