  1. I recently purchased a clutch plate from Andy Bernbaum. The gentlemen who answered the phone was just barely courteous. Very short and too the point type of guy. That caught me a little wrong but just considered it due to the fact he probably fielded calls all day. Even so considering I was the customer I thought his demeanor could certainly have been better. With that said here is the part that totally turned me off to doing business with him again. I had asked if he had clutch alignment tools and if he did if he could please include it with my order. His reply was that I did not need a tool to install my clutch. A little puzzled I asked how he recommended doing so and his reply was "You'll figure it out". What the heck of a comment from a man who wishes to sell his wares!! On top of that when I received my clutch it turns out to be a cheapy Western Auto refurb. I will now take mey business elsewhere----- Dave
  2. Beautiful car!! I am envious! I must admit I am a little surprised of the color of the arm rests. My P-15C has the original interior as yours and like yours mine has burgandy arm rests. I was told that they had probably been recovered. Now that I see yours I am satisfied in believing that mine may be original afterall!! Great looking car. I am certain your Grandfather is looking down and is quite proud of what you have accomplished. Glad to see it stayed in the family. Equally as happy you kept it original and not chopped and hot-rodded it! It is just too good of shape for that. Hats off to you! Dave

  5. The pin in question will slide out of the wheel cylinder and come off with the old shoe. Yes, you will remove this pin from the old shoe and it will ride in the knotch on the new shoe. Ofcourse the other end will slide into the wheel cylinder. Here is a pic of mine. You will notice a hole in the pin from where it was originally installed on my old shoe. Take a look at the tech tips section about cutting a slot into the shoe anchor bolts. These shoes are difficult to adjust without the specific adj tool which is darn near unavailable. If found it is VERY costly. Take your time and you will be okay. Did you rebuild your wheel cylinders?? Now would be an excellent time to do so. Not very costly and will prevent fluid from ruining your new shoes. Good Luck and keep us posted. Dave
  6. Definately pull the floor pan. I am unsure if you can reach the two upper bolts with it in. The time spent pulling the floor pan is time saved trying to work around it. Dave

  8. I found the suggestion on the Forum in the "technical tips" at the home page. Look in the tool bar to the left and you will find "technical tips". A LOT of good information there!! I cut a slot in the anchor bolts. This allows for adj of the heel of the shoe with the drum on. Here is a pic of mine. If you look closely at the anchor bolt you will see the slot. It is a great help. I still found it a bit of a challenge to adj properly. Having to make the adj with the screwdriver was easy. The difficult part was tightening the anchor bolt without moving it.   10. Evening Guys, I am considering resurfacing my clutch. I find several refacing disks on E-Pay. What tools are needed? Are they readily available? Thanks, Dave
  11. Just pulled mine on my P-15. There are a total of 6 bolts. Two on each side and two on the top. The lower bolts on the sides are larger than the other four. The top of the bell housing hangs over the flywheel. Being I had to remove the flywheel to resurface it, it was easiest to remove it at the same time as well. I removed both as a unit. Ofcourse you must remove the starter as well. I must admit it was a little tricky remounting the flywheel while supporting the bell housing!! It really was not THAT bad. Here is a pic I took this evening. Work in progress. Here is a pick showing the two upper mount holes. Hope this helps, Dave

  13. The bottom line guys is these people have no money. It is us who are middle class who have the most to lose. We have enough money to justify the state or city to prosecute and take our money. Yet not enough money to know the right people to get us off. Trust me when I say this---I have witnessed it too many times. Not directly with me but with family members and friends. Dave

  15. That is good to hear Ed. I had been concerned that mine was incorrectly installed. Have any idea what brought about the change?? Being mine is a 47 P-15 I am probably going to install the bottoms unless they simply will not fit. Nonetheless my uppers were in desperate need of replacement. I am hoping having my flywheel resurfaced and my engine mounts replaced I can eliminate the chatter I had in first gear. I had noticed years ago when I replace my clutch that my flywheel had grooves in it. I just did not have the time then to replace it. I also replace the front wheel cylinders. Had the drums turned and installed new shoes. I also replace the freeze plugs and am working on replacing the emerg brake drum. I am going to have to replace the rear seal on my tranny as well. Seems it started to leak when I first attempted to removed the emer brake drum. Once the seal was removed it was obvious it needed to be changed. I am now taking the time to get the car 100%. I am looking forward to driving it and enjoying the fruits of my labors. Thanks for your input Ed, Dave
  16. I wish to replace my rear seal on my transmission of my P-15. I have pulled the emer brake drum and can seee the seal. Is there anything tricky about removing it?? Installing it?? Thanks guys! Dave
  17. Glad to see you found the culprit. I hope you have better luck cleaning your shoes once they have been contaminated with fluid. Seems they never some totally clean for me. I suspect you should be able to stretch and pull the seal from the piston. If it leaked once it will again. I do not beleive the outer boot is there for sealing against leakage but rather as a "dust boot". The seal on the piston is your main defence against leaks onto your shoes. Good Luck with it!! Dave
  18. I am researching the application of clutch plate number 1043622. It is suppose to be a Mopar/Chrysler number. I am hoping it fits my P-15. I need a 9.25 diameter and 10 tooth. Thanks guys, Dave

  20. I pulled on it with pliers and it is stuck very well. I figure it has been there all these years it will remain. Thanks for easing my worry. Dave
  21. Afternoon Gentlemen, I am changing the freeze plugs on my P-15. When I pulled the plug that is behind the flywheel I found a wire inside!!!! Keep in mind this motor runs perfect. It has for 20 years. I had a freeze plug leak on me so I opted to replace them all. Here is a pic! Any ideas???:confused: Thanks, Dave

  23. Evening Gentlemen, I am needing to replace the engine mounts on my P-15. Seems what I find on E-Pay and the net speak of an upper and lower rubber mount. When I removed my engine mounts it seems all I had was an upper rubber mount with a steel sleeve. It bolted through the crossmemer and was secured with a big wahser and a nut. Is the mount a two piece unit--one upper and one lower rubber piece?? Thanks, Dave

  25. Sounds like something I would do!! On the same note. I noticed the gasket has a hole cut there as well, yet the hole mates to a flat flange on the bell housing. There is no ajoining opening on the bell housing--flat. When I cut a new gasket would it be necessary to cut a hole in the gasket in that location?? Thanks, Dave
