  1. Yeah...I found that production number the other day on the Allpar site but wanted to savor the earlier stated lesser number of units for a while. I wonder how many of the early split rear window models were made??? I'm glad I like the Trinidad brown color cause that's the color it'll be.
  2. Ha Ha Ha ! That's funny.
  3. Hey thanks John ! They made ~2000 more of my 42 Dodge bizzy coupe and I thought that was kinda rare.
  4. I hear ya Johnny. I'll be putting it back into original condition ( paint, upholstery, trim ) Someone removed the original 97 hp engine and replaced it with a 1959 Dodge truck engine so I can enjoy the extra horses guilt free. I might as well go ahead and upgrade the intake, exhaust, and compression ratio too. Any idea where I can find the production numbers for this model?
  5. Originally the trucks just came with the ground to the transmission only but I agree with everyone that more grounds on these old rigs is better.
  6. Thanks Harold !!!! Zabasearch worked. Jackie's address and phone number and date of birth were listed there. She was born in 1927. I gave the phone number a try and after a few rings I hear Helloooo, in a very chipper voice. It was her !!!!!!and she remembers the car very well. It was her uncle Elberts car and he use to let her borrow it in the early 50's while she was attending college in Idaho. She was very talkative and kept going off on little tangents but would apologies and get back to stuff about the car. I told her not to apologies of course and that I was very interested in what she had to say. I wonder if she could tell I was jumping up and down like an excited school girl. Eventually I asked her if she could maybe wright me up a little story about what she remembered about the car and the people involved and she said she'd be very happy to. Then she said "ya know, I think I have some old photos of that car in a box around here. Would you like me to send them to you? She asked for my address and phone number and said she'd send them right after Thanksgiving. She was very sharp for an 80 year old and repeated my phone # and address to me perfectly. If she follows through I'll be sure to post them here. :D :D :D Happy Thanksgiving to all !!!
  7. Yeah Tim, this all happened very quickly. I spotted the auction late Thursday and by Friday at around 10:45 am I was high bidder. The seller called later that day to say that he could only deliver it from Idaho on Saturday afternoon or I would have to find another hauler. Did you guys get anything figure out for next springs BBQ ?
  8. They sure look like it Don. There is an extra lens below the larger lens on the woody but the larger one looks the same. I'll take a Chance and contact Mr. Moore. While down at my little bone yard yesterday looking to see if any of my 51/52 Suburbans had some lenses I noticed some very large footprints in the soft soil around all my cars. I got a little scared for a second thinking I was going to have a confrontation with Sasquatch until I remembered that Don had been down there just a few days earlier.
  9. Thanks Charlie ! I'll have a look. Hey,,,,, Johnny S,who is a member here is, the moderator of that group.
  10. Thanks for looking Tim. Guess these are gonna be hard little rascals to find in decent shape.
  11. Here's a comparison. 53 Chrysler 265 is rated at 119hp at 3600rpm and 218 lbs torque at 1600rpm 53 Dodge 230 is rated at 103 at 3600rpm and 190 lbs of torque at 1200rpm
  12. The positive ground strap usually bolts to a transmission bolt, not the frame.
  13. Nice photos. I have a rack like the woodie is sporting that's going on Elbert.
  14. Hey ! Those are great Pete. From the charts it looks like maybe my dash and window surrounds were the Malibu brown (like your beauty) and the body was Trinidad brown. Thanks !
  15. Yup...I though that was pretty silly cause now I think he's stuck with paying the listing fees weather or not it sells.
  16. Tim, I emailed Neil on Monday but haven't heard back from him yet. He may be on vacation as I don't see any eBay sales for him right now either ( as of last Monday anyway) Do you have a part number for those lenses?
  17. Me too Norm. So simple that even the hinges are exterior mounted. Yes....there is no access to the inside of the tailgate so you would have to fish a stiff wire in there to pull a stop light wire through. The upper split window hatch is held open with the same brackets that were used to hold the windshields open on the military power wagons.
  18. The back of the title was signed off by Jackie Fretwell ( power of attorney ) and down below a Dave J Parrie applied for a new title on 4/4/ 92. It looks like Elbert Meyer has passed but maybe Jackie Fretwell is a relative. I'll try searching for her first. There are 2 other names there. A bank manager from The Idaho First National Bank in Weiser,Idaho and an auto dealer with his dealer number. I haven't tried searching yet but this search will be fun and any info I find will stay with the car.
  19. Well, I'm going to go through the brakes and electrical and weld in some new floor boards. Then I'll drive it for a while working on the body and paint. I discovered that the rear end ratio is 3.73 so with the 235/75R 15" radials on the rear this combo ought to enable it to carry me down the road pretty well. I just want Elbert to be a nice looking dependable driver. Yeah Norm.....I really like the split rear window and I also like the front grill and hood and dash gauges more than my 51's. Tim, That center light appears to be an after market item. I don't think the po ever ran a wire to it. Still a mystery but I kinda like it. If ya know of anyone with 49 grill parts for sale please let me know. Oh...almost forgot....where can I get some tail light lenses for Elbert?????
  20. As you may already know I got this 49 Plymouth over the weekend and have discovered some things about the car that are really neat. Elbert has a 59 Dodge flatty that runs really strong and the man that sold the car to me via eBay handed me the original title to the car as a bonus. I'm jazzed ! Elbert got some new rubber today too.
  21. Cool photos and car.
  22. WOW !!! Love dat 38 vert. too !
