  1. Thanks all for fast responses & suggestions - I have not got reply for my questions from the eBay seller yet. Mark, The one you found looks much alike the one for sale by Mike's Afordable. However, Mike's list the inverter for 7.5A max current, while this one was listed only 2.5Amps. What is a bit suspicious, the photo at Mike's has text "use 3Amp fuse" on top of the gadget... Chet, Do you have one inverter for your stereo and another for cigarette lighter output?
  2. Are there any electricians at the forum? I spotted an 12V->6V inverter on a Ford A-model shop. It was, however, quite dear, $100. http://www.mikes-afordable.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=A10000CHD&Category_Code= Then I ran a search at eBay, what did I found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-car-6V-to-12V-voltage-converter-power-power-/350436684000 Now the questions I am worried are: - would this work in +gnd system? - does it output enough currency to power a CD-stereo set? (likely not, only 15W...?) But it should be enough for a gadget, that transmits music from a mp3 player to car radio... I thought one could hook this in the cigarette lighter plug thus it would provide 12V power for cell phone charger and small radio devices at least. Would be "nice feature" to 40's ride. I asked the supplier the above questions and now waiting for reply. Stay tuned...
  3. Something wrong with the web page or the service... Step 3 "a Box will appear" - the box does NOT appear, nor any other way to pin me up on the map. Is it my PC settings or the page?
  4. As said, it is not my car but a fellow car nut's here in Finland. The body has been taken off the frame and it is in pieces. As I understood, he needs the exact measures across the door frames to be able to position cowl in resp.to the back of the body. Thanks, Pekka
  5. I am no Guru in this, but I think you can tell the manufacturing location by the serial number of your ride. Please read the "reference" chapter of the excellent P15-D24 info pages... http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/referenceframeset.html Further models in the below link... http://www.ply33.com/misc/vin#decodeNotes Factories, P19, 1950: Detroit from 18,041,001 to 18,119,094; Evansville from 24,012,001 to 24,035,538 Los Angeles from 28,004,001 to 8,009,848 San Leandro from 28,503,501 to 28,511,177
  6. I posted earlier today a request on the pilot house forum: A pal in Finland has a basket case 1950 Fargo panel van. He does need some body dimension measures to be able to assemble the body of his project. No comments/answers so far. How rare is a 1950 panel van? I suppose the body was the same for all Mopar products that year?
  7. Hi Folks, I just happened to spot a help request in a finnish classic car magazine. A fellow here has a basket case 1950 Dodge/fargo panel van. He is looking for some cabin measures, e.g. door frame dimensions to assemble the body in correct shape. Please let us know who would have such van and is willing and able to provide dimensions needed. Thanks, Pekka
  8. Mark, just remember to bring a BIG BAG for the souvenir... (Would you been visiting here now, a wool pullover would be necessary as well... We had -27C in Sunday, now it is milder, -14C...)
  9. Actually it is a french Renault R4 fourgonette van - 1st vintage of that model, 1962 (a good year, it was). This car used to belong to my current neighbour's dad. He abandoned it in beginning of 70's, because he got a pink slip due to loose tie rod end. The car stood decades behind a barn and then I heard they were to put it in the crusher. It is all there and all original. Tiny 845cc OHV four and four speed in front of the engine. Drive shafts connect direct to gear box, its FWD. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  10. Merry Christmas, friends!
  11. Not many of those 1942 models around any more?
  12. Thanks Ralph, Let's continue on the sunny side of the street:
  13. Wow, That interior is amazing fine condition. Is that really unrestored from the factory? I would say this is a treasure find. Also externally it looks straight and nice. Congratulations for super score!
  14. Disclaimer/apology: I just realized that the "dispatch" of my original message above, in Friday 14th, could be understood to refer to the tragedy in Connecticut. Sincerely, when I wrote my message, I haven't heard of the tragedy yet. Merely my working day had been hard and wearing, thus wrote the line in certain "God thank it's Friday"-mood... Not that it would been offensive in any way, but just need to say it was not refering to the sad news.
  15. Pictures of the beauty of times past.
  16. Hey c'mon folks! The deal is a steal - You will not get any better price anywhere for genuine period water slide decals. Plus Chris will donate the bucks for the forum. If you live in Nebraska or have ever visited there, this will be a must on the rear quarter window of your ride.
  17. Photoshop of mine...
  18. Please feel free to use my "road sign design" in the official P15-D24 forum items. I will gladly e-mail the editable graphic file. Yours, Pekka
  19. The second picture is heart breaking when you learn all this is crushed to cubes and taken to melting owens... (I would like this on my wall enlarged) Of course it is foolish to whine over something one can do absolutely nothing to help, but still... I wonder why we have to be so effective these days. Why cannot afford to keep places like this just to remind of old times? This field would have been an outdoor museum and place of worship for gearheads. The form and shape of the 30's cars... All these roof lines, flowing fenders, long pointed hoods... Once made by our grandfathers by using long gone presses and weld machines. Will never return once crushed. Yes, I am definitely a sentimental fool.
  20. The scene where an old lady had a heart attack and died in the funny elevator was obviously edited out...
  21. Is the car in the 1st picture a 1935 Hupmobile? - I think this is the first time I have seen even a picture of such... (Apart from period advertisements and automotive yearbooks) Must be a rare bird?
  22. I found a loose page of a paint chip folder in my drawer. On top right corner, it says: "Bulletin no.21/Sheet 3" Header on top of the page:"1954 Dodge Truck colors" Color codes are of format: 93-6925 Panama Sand There are 8 pcs chips with codes on it. Anyone in need of this info, let me know. I may mail the page to you, I do not need it.
  23. Let me guess... Does the sales pitch say "It has lot of POTENTIAL"? Seriously. I am sorry for the fellow who has bought that. He has to be someone with no experience in old cars but full of enthusiasm. After this it will be vice versa and result is that he will exit the hobby before he did enter...
  24. Hi Bob, I am so glad to learn the good news and see you and Cooper back here. When I read about your disease I felt hopelessly sorry, but had no words to comfort you. I have had also bad things happening in my family the past years and thus can imagine how bad you must have felt. Well, I sincerely wish it's all over now. Really glad see you back here. We all enjoy so much the warm feeling in your pictures from Catskills with Cooper and the Wayback machine. The scenery and sense of old times makes them special. They capture an essential part of our hobby - a relieving break from the hectic modern time. All the best for You, Your family and Cooper. /Pekka
  25. Thanks Robert, Next time I'll visit States I'll grab a pack of this gum. So far I have done some resin casting for scale models and used very expensive special silicon. It is easy to use and reproduces even smallest details very faithfully. For scale model castings you do not need it much, thus I kinda suspected it will not be the right choice for this purpose...
