  3. Good point on having to reinforce the firewall. I am ok with the modifications I have to do, I guess I was looking for information on the power booster that Butch's Cool Stuff offers on their conversion kit to keep it all under the floor. If it will work well with the correct residual valving I will use, since the master cylinder will be lower than the wheel cylinders, and 4 wheel disc brakes, then I am on board with that idea. I just didn't want to have an undersized power booster for my application or if it mattered or not. Thanks folks!
  4. I'm starting to plan my build, now that I am at the tail end of a very long Ford Model A project, which is why I have not posted much on my 1941 Plymouth Business Coupe. I am am going to put disc brakes on all four corners and wanted to know what people have done in their cars or if there was a philosophy regarding four wheel disc brakes and the position of a dual master and power booster, firewall vs floor. Size of booster, if it matters or what that essentially does (is bigger better?). I am considering this kit from Butch's Cool Stuff. https://butchscoolstuff.com/40-41-plymouth-40-dodge-brake-pedal-conversion-kit-2483bc/ I do plan on running an automatic, but that booster looks to be a bit smaller than I would expect to get good performance. I based that on my overall lack of knowledge for brake conversions and boosters in general, but wonder why some boosters are larger than others, etc... So if anyone has used that setup, could you provide your experience, caveats, and pitfalls if any? Thank you in advance.

  7. Iknow this is an old thread and I am interested if you still have the single bare one still. Does it still have all the mounting hardware? I really like the style of this type of bubble skirt and I have a buddy who could build me a mate for the other side if I have a template to work off of.
  8. It was an eBay listing. I jumped and bought it because of how rare it is to find this kind of thing. I don't mind making it work as I am just about done with all the chrome on my Model A (I have seen what it takes to make parts look pretty --->$$$). I was hoping that this would have been a part used across multiple years. Kind of like the fenders from 40-41 for Plymouth and Dodge.
  9. Thank you Rich for the information. I know it is an odd request to ask about a 39 DeSoto when I was comparing to a 40-41 DeSoto to possibly use on a 41 Plymouth. I guess my second question is, if the placement insn't the same, does the width between a 39 to 40 or 41 DeSoto differ much, at all? The piece I found is on a 39 DeSoto, it needs repair and a re-chrome, so I would be bringing this piece back from the dead as it sits on a car that is parting out...so I could make it fit if I needed, I just wondered how easy I would get away with this if I tried.
  10. Long time since I have posted. I am about done with a model A project that took precedence to my 1941 Plymouth project, so I am gathering parts. Are 1939 DeSoto Bumpers the same as a 1940 DeSoto Bumper? I like the way it conforms and peaks with the front end and wanted to try and find one for my project. From what I can tell online, they look similar, I just wanted to to find out if there are any gotchas in width or bracket placement.
  11. I have a 1941 Plymouth Coupe and have the option to get an 8 3/4 out of a 1967 A100 Dodge van. I know my rear is 60.00 for the width, but haven't had a chance to measure the vans rear. I have access to a jig that is set up to narrow a Mopar rear so if it is too wide, no biggie. I am trying to look up specs on the van for that year and am not 100% sure what the guy has until I can get a chance to look at it. If anyone has knowledge on this I appreciate your thoughts.

  13. Just found this topic, I think that front end is gorgeous with that custom bumper! It really fits the flow of the pointed front grill on that body style.
