  1. Tim, do you have any idea what time some other members might show up to your place. I should definitely be there, just need to have some details to plan my little commute.
  2. Thank you so much for the thoughtful replies. My Uncle passed last night at 12:45. I don't know if my dad was able to make it to the hospital before then. He had jumped on a plane yesterday. I guess now I have something to finish my build in memory of....
  3. I'm going to PA tomorrow with my sisters. My eldest uncle isn't doing well in his battle against cancer. Putting it on here because he is one the people that really inspired my classic automobile love. I believe he still has 'barney' his early fifties dodge p/up that has a V8 and sits on 44" tires. He also had a 40 Plymouth Coupe that was going to be a drag car that never got finished. Hopefully we can make there it before he passes.
  4. I ordered a kit online and when it came in it wasn't the right one. I didn't look at it for a few weeks after getting it in so I can't return it. It looks exactly like the photo for the king pin kit you can order from Rockauto. Anyone know where I can source the correct replacement kit for a 47 dodge D24?
  5. I have nothing to comment about the motor, but I read that the swap meet was in Conroe Texas. I spent my days roaming fields and woods in the early eighties there. From what I remember, it was one of those towns that if you blinked you would miss it as you drove through. Sorry for derailing the thread.
  6. I have 4 cats, 2 are strays that we took in and one of those two has the personality of a dog and is awesome. I did tell my wife that we are on the revolving door policy. Nothing comes in without something going out.
  7. Tim, it was good to see you again. I was a little disappointed at the lack of old Mopar parts. It did make me regret the 8 hours of driving round trip to get brake parts I could have ordered, but if I hadn't gone then I would have missed everything I needed. Next time I'll be sure to stay over at the inlaws, at least it's halfway.
  8. That looks fairly simple, I'll see what I come up with.
  9. Don, even if they are cast iron, would it be possible to cut the pivot arm off and drill and tap it to bolt it to a bracket?
  10. The issues that Don detailed in his install. Incorrect pedal fitment, Loose pivot mount fitting, and MC placement and difficulty with plumbing. My car is a 47 D24 sedan and I realize the plymouths will be a little different.
  11. I have read tons of threads and I have studied "krap" by Don C. I don't want to duplicate any other threads so I will try to be specific and if you could help that would be greatly appreciated. I bought a MC and residual valves at the Moultrie swap meet today:). I want to fab up a bracket to mount it with out the ECI issues. My 1st question is, is the stock MC cast iron? I was thinking of strategically cutting it so I can bolt it to a bracket for the correct pivots and spacing. 2nd, if that is impossible, can anyone direct me to where or how I can fab up the pivot to weld onto the mounting bracket. If I can successfully make a bracket I may try to fab these for others to purchase and provide better fitment than the ECI setup.
  12. Anyone planning on going to the swap meet in Moultrie this weekend? I've made plans to attend and would like to try to meet some other forum members. Tim Adams, are you attending? It looks like its going to be a muddy mess from the rain coming through tomorrow.
  13. I've got flux core in it now but I'm going to get a tank and solid wire before I starting doing the repairs. I was just gonna use the flux core to put in any bracing then swap it out. My welder came with the regulator.
  14. Im going to make a cut and remove the lower half of the outer rocker except for the small bits at the front that have more rust. The top of the rocker/door sills are intact but are thin form rusting inside out so there isn't much that can be salvaged. The inner rockers are shot. I did think of putting a square tube inside the rocker then fabing some sheet metal to fill out the shape.
  15. here's my progress so far. I have removed and completely stripped the front doors, have some rusted screws that are keeping me from removing the back doors. I did break the two bolts on the block for the exhaust manifold.
  16. I had gotten a mig welder a few weeks ago and I am about to boldly go where I have never gone before. I am about to cut out all of the rockers and the front floors. My question is about keeping the body from twisting, what would be the best way to brace it without buying an excessive amount of steel tubing and making a jungle gym inside the car. My doors all line up really well and I don't want to lose that. Just curious what anyone might have done in the past.
  17. My company services a lot of apartments around Metro Atlanta and we went into the office for the first time today. There was a bunch of work we called to reschedule but because of the ice we weren't able to do it today due to interstates being closed. With all of the extremely cold temps we may do a bunch of work from busted pipes this weekend. Charlie, if you come up far enough north it will still be here. Send me an email and I will give you directions to my place.
  18. Hey guys, just wondering how Mr. Adams and some of the other members in the south are doing with the snow. I've successfully reminded myself that I'm not a kid anymore, I'm still in denial though. My home-made sled that I made of a small sheet of Diamond Plate aluminum was a blast today and the kids had a lot of fun.
  19. I have a friend from Sydney, he said the big problem is the snakes and crocodilesthat come in with the water.
  20. Charlie, Tanks Inc I believe is the name of a company that makes a replacement. There is a shop near me that makes radiators from aluminum, he quoted me 450, I think I remember him include a plate and electric fan as well for that price.
  21. Mine wasn't, it may have come loose while trying everything else. I'll have to check the passenger side to see. I'm still in the 'take it all apart' stage.
  22. I ended up "gently persuading" the one on my driver door out. I tried everything, PB Blaster, tried to drill it out, ease outs, etc. I had to slide the cylinder out by prying and it came out without denting the door. I then removed the bracket and extracted that stupid little allen screw on my bench.
  23. Where is the best place to get a proper replacement. I was hoping to start putting my disc brakes on but need this first.
  24. Just nothing on my car:(. I started to put a garage door opener in tonight that I purchased from my neighbor who didn't want to leave it in the rental house they just moved out of. One of these days I'm gonna get started on the install of the new brake kit from OldDaddy and my dual intake. At least I won't have to lift the door in front of my D24 any more.
  25. I had seen a 40-41 Plymouth near Marysville TN at a car lot for sale. Looked to be in good shape at 60 mph as I drove by. Its on hwy 321 east of the town in case anyone near there wants to check it out.
