  1. The latest,................. and a question. The question is. "is there a way to post a video on this forum. I've achieved my first attempt to record a short video of part of the engine assembly but have been unable to figure how to post it.
  2. Definitely go with the modern trans. An automatic in your Plymouth would be kinda novel which is its own reward. You'll probably have to modify the trans cover/floor board but that's a separate piece which you can do outta the car. Also plan on moving the engine toward the pass. side 1.00-1.50" for steering, starter, exhaust clearance. I did somewhat the same mod. on my P15 and I'm very pleased with the result. Mopar did that offset on production cars in the 50s and no one noticed. Three on the tree will still require some fiddling with linkage so it's not exactly a bolt in. I'd suggest your convert to a dual MC as long as you're down there. And, whether auto or 3 spd, a later model rearend better handles your V8 and they are dirt cheap at the wrecking yards. There is a list somewhere on this forum of of viable candidates that I'm not smart enough to recall. Perhaps one of the others on this forum will chime in with that information.

  4. Damn!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to hear that. That happened to another friend recently also. That's crappy and there is no one you can grab by the throat. Totally frustrating.   5. I don't think the issue of the top mounted outlet would be a problem unless your fuel pump is marginal to begin with. There is the siphon effect which keeps the line full unless there is a leak somewhere. Here is mine and the only problem is, it does "leak down" when sitting for a week. It takes several moments of cranking to fire. For you, for "temporary", should be no problem especially if you can score a temporary tank for minimal cost.
  6. Probably going to plug it. Near's I can figger, since that hole goes into the area below the thermostat, it would not work as a by-pass. However, I'm thinkin the port in the top of the Chevy pump would serve that purpose and further thinkin to supply that by-pass port with water from the back of the heads to average the temp. diff. between the front and rear of the heads. I may be over thinking the subject and know that Chrysler did not worry about temp. diff. front to back. However, it's kinda fun to fool around with the idea. Kinda like an HEI on a Mopar
  7. Sorry I missed ya mate. I live about 10 miles from Dana Point and would have loved to hook up. If you announced your visit ahead of time I missed it. Alternatively, next time give us in So Cal a headsup.
  8. Alsooooo.......... Took the cutoff wheel and grinder to the stock iron water pump/thermostat housing to separate the two functions. This to maintain, as best I can, the non billet look with the Chev waterpump. Still need to resolve the hot water bypass cuircit. - -
  9. Yes, that was my first thought. However, that put the vacuum pot pointing to the driver side which is opposite to where the vacuum source on the center carb is. So I redid the heat sink/HEI mounting @ about 170 degrees. I.E., I assumed the mounting screw on the other side if the dist. was directly opposite my original mount (180 degrees). Not so but the idea was salvageable even tho not quite as pretty. I'm not showin you that The upside is, I don't ever need to worry about water in the dist. 'cause I've got lotsa extra drain holes now. - - - - I still only have about 35-40 degrees of rotation to set timing. And, it's on me to initially establish the dist./oil pump index relative to the cam, the #1 plug terminal, and still have enough dist. rotation to tune. But that's what makes it fun, eh!
  10. Check the first two pics in Reply #29. Screwed the heat sink to the bottom of the dist. from the inside. But alas,...... I also screwed up! Nice work thank you but, in the wrong place Guess that's called experience So,...since I also need to be able to adjust the timing, I'll re-do the heat sink/HEI module to the opposite side of the dist.
  11. Electrically?????? I have the GM connector to replace the Mopar unit shown. One of the other two pins on the other side is switched power and the fourth is ???? That's when I call my friend
  12. How's this? It's how I made my living in the last century. As old as it is, it all works. Maybe that's why I struggle so with the />^&*# computer.

  17. Welcome back! Seems when you get to the project that progress happens real fast. Anxious to see more.
  18. Slowly sneaking up on the assembly process. Seems everything takes longer at my age Just got the block scrubbed and block and heads painted. In addition, and with the help of several friends, I am coming to understand that some 318/340 Mopar components, like oil pump, distributor and harmonic balancer, can be used. I'll also patch in a GM HEI module to the Mopar electronic dist. 'Tho it may offend the purist, it's a comfort to know you can get one at just about any auto parts store across the country. - -

He has a fair amount of stuff and is very knowledgeable. I bought parts from him in 2000 and he is still 'holding my hand" as I finally get around to completing the project started in the last century. Shoot him an email.

  22. As I recall, you have a 241. That engine had an integral water pump, thermostat housing and motor mount. I may have one for a 241. If I do, you can have it for the price of shppg. My plan for the 325 is to assemble a cross-over manifold and thermostat housing from parts I can make and/or buy, much like that shown in the attached pic. Also, Hot Heads has a water cross-over and thermo housing but it has too much color and bling for my taste.
