  1. THANKS!!! I'll give it a try.
  2. That looks awesome!! Nice job. Question for you... how difficult was it to remove the gauge cluster?? I need to remove mine and refinish it like you've done, but it seems a little tricky to remove. How is the oil pressure line removed? Does it unscrew right behind the gauge? The temp gauge has a thermometer in the engine block, I assume that has to be removed from the engine and pulled through the firewall?
  3. Thanks.... yeah, the Jerry can holders are original and have been on the truck almost since day 1. Don't think they came with the truck brand new, but were added shortly there after. Both the Jerry cans I put on are not original with the truck, but are old cans. One from the 50's, the other from late 70's.
  4. Gotta love them Yellow trucks Let's get another one in our club.
  5. The back tires are Cooper Super Traction Tread 7.0 - 16 LT The fronts tires are Cooper Super Road Masters 6.5 - 16 LT
  6. Thanks for dropping by to visit Bob and the great pictures, it was nice to see you. Sorry I missed you too at BBQ 48D, I hope to make it next year for sure. Truck ran pretty good in the parade. It's first parade (probably ever in it's history) and we made it without incident. Wasn't sure with idling that long and moving very slow for about an hour if the motor would cut out on me, but it did fine. Lot's of working the clutch too. The first half of the parade, the street has just enough of a downhill grade that I was able to coast in neutral without too much strain on the clutch. It was a beautiful day, clear skies, temp in mid 70's. I haven't insulated the cab yet, so I think it was hotter in the cab than it was in the motor. I poured a bottle of "Water Wetter" in the radiator in the morning just for back up, and I'm sure that helped keep it cool. Eric
  7. Thanks for posting pictures. Next year hopefully I'll make it. Really disappointed not being able to make it this year. I coach HS baseball, and we ended up having to play a makeup game on Saturday due to all the rain outs we've had this year. "Miss April"
  8. I followed Young Ed & Merle's lead on their choice and went to the local Tractor Supply store and found a roll. I bought it and installed it last weekend. I like it. Seems like it should last a long time. Here are some before, during, and after shots of the floor board restoration. The first pictures are of the floor before I started. Then I covered the floor board with Zero Rust. Then cut and fit the floor mat.
  9. I'm coming this year and looking forward to meeting everyone. It will be my first Pilot-House BBQ. I'll be trailoring my truck in from Sonoma County. It runs great, just don't want to make the 3+ hour drive in the '48. The rain has been reeking major havoc on our baseball season so for, so hopefully we don't have any makeups that day.
  10. The duals were added. It came stock with a 4 cylinder, and by dad squeezed a V6 in it as well.
  11. On the subject of old Willy's jeeps, here's a picture of a '59 that's been in our family since my grandfather bought it in '59 that my brother is in the process of restoring now.
  12. Ditto for me too. I just replaced mine about 4 months ago and I thought I had installed them wrong, but I couldn't find any way to fix it.
  13. Here's the trailer I used. I only had to travel about 150 miles and it worked great.
  14. Thanks Merle, must be the nature of the design. I was worried that I didn't install it right, but it's pretty straight forward. I tried adjusting the wing window more forward, (with the very little adjustment we have), still won't seal properly.
  15. That looks more like the original division bar seal that I removed from mine (not sure if it was the original, but probably was). The Steele seal I used works, but I like the felt 'L' channel better. Let us know how it works for you. Also, I replaced my wing window gaskets with Steele gaskets, and they just don't seem to want to seal tight to the bottom "curved" portion of the wing window. Seems like there's not enough of a "flap" sticking out. Have you experienced that?
  16. I purchased my division bar seal from Steele and I also had a hard time figuring out how to install. I kept trying to install it backwards (the open end of the "V" towards the wing window) then after a bit of trial and error, and the help of my brother-in-law, finally figured it out. Here's a few pictures of it installed. Hopefully this helps.
  17. Reg, where did you find those oval shape chrome carriage bolts on your two bumper guards?
  18. THANKS Hank. Merry Christmas.
  19. Ok thanks. So when these draft seals do get slipped over the pedal w/o tearing and are slid down the petal arms to the floorboard, I'm assuming that the seals go under the floorboard? And if so, do the seals stay attached to the pedal arms and move back and forth when the pedals are pressed, therefore sealing the floor when the petals are not pressed, and not sealing the floor when the petals are pressed? Otherwise if you attach them to the bottom of the floor board, the pedal arms would have to slide back and forth through the seals?
  20. Merle, Just wondering if you installed these since you posted this a while ago? I just bought a pair from Roberts and I'm getting ready to install them.
  21. There's something to be said for the original paint used in '48. Mine still has the original paint job. Has a few worn spots, but for the most part, is in really great shape. The truck has never been garaged (as far as I know). My dad's friend's uncle bought it new, my dad bought it from him and owned it for 3 years then my uncle had if for 37 years. I inherited it from him a year ago and have been restoring it.
  22. Reg, where's ol' yeller in these old photo's? Did one of these turn into ol' yeller, or was it before her? (cool pictures by the way)
  23. THANKS.....I'll give it a try.
