  1. Did you happen to get any more shots of the 49?? Looks like he swapped in the GM air conditioning as well. Looks like a nice clean job, thanks for posting!
  2. Those FD bolts are a great job for a young one with little fingers and lots of patience!
  3. This carb kit should be available from a local independent parts store that handles Standard Motor Products or Hygrade Carb kits. New and under $25
  4. Glad you listened to your wife Harold. Hope you are feeling much better now.
  5. My relatives in Kurrimine Beach in Australia lost their home in the 2005 cyclone that hit them. They rebuilt to cyclone building codes and even a bit better in some areas. This year, when Yasi came ashore almost on top of them, their house was unscathed...not even a broken window. The only damage was the vegetation and a shed had it's door ripped off. Rebuilding to hurricane building code standards would be worth looking into. Hope all goes well on the rebuild for you Bob.
  6. Our feds up here are monitoring the Power Sellers as well in order that they get their pound of flesh. The ponzi schemers and other tax crooks are safe...gotta stop those Power Sellers! Declare the income voluntarily or the tax man will estimate your income, so the forms are for the big sellers. Up here, we can still sell our own property without being taxed...for now. I quit using eBay for buying or selling a few years ago. It is a very very distasteful, thieving, robbing cesspool of hidden fees and monopolistic rules. I rarely even browse because the type of items that used to be auctioned has morphed from private people selling personal cars and parts to big business selling Chinese crap.
  7. I was reading about the sale of items from the closed Sahara in Las Vegas when I came upon this old picture. Those must have been amazing times in Sin City.
  8. Personally I much prefer the Olddaddy kit...Charlie will tap the threads for a small charge. The kit is simple and easy but more importantly, the customer service cannot be beat. Charlie is a Mopar guy big time as well. Oh, the kit calls for...gasp...Volare rotors:eek:
  9. I went to Safeway yesterday to pick up my prescription renewals, picked up some groceries and came home...without the prescriptions which was the reason for going in the first place! By the time I realized it, they were closed
  10. From todays Shorpy, a Plymouth Suburban in a photo taken in 1953 http://www.shorpy.com/node/10541?size=_original
  11. The 3M Stripe Off Wheel...works very well, around $50 at Grainger.
  12. Amazing hunk of mechanics here http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=HSKyHmjyrkA&feature=email
  13. Disc Brake kit from Charlie here on the forum (Olddaddy) http://www.rustyhope.com/mopardiscbrakes.html Kit install on a D24: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=27380 Thread on Rack and Pinion design and install: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=25793 Good luck on your project!!
  14. Everything you need to rebuild the original suspension is available and not that expensive. It's a pretty beefy suspension, as good or better than a clip IMHO, without the work. Get a front shock relocation bracket from OldDaddy as well. The chassis is pretty beefy as well, so you'll never run into any issues there that would require a frame swap. I rebuilt mine on my 49 Chrysler a while ago. Easy and looks good, if you like, there are brackets available for Rack and Pinion and a couple of threads here on the installation of a kit bracket and a homemade bracket. Before After
  15. I agree, it would only make sense and could be done with no govt involvement in building a trailer park that would only be empty once the homes were rebuilt. We had a friend who lost her home to fire and she fought quite hard to be able to put a mobile on her lot until the house was rebuilt. She won and it was allowed, but for that there should not be a fight...it's her lot and it's only temporary. I would hope the powers that be in Joplin will make things easy and not more difficult for these folks. It's not like the neighbors are going to have to look at a mobile home in the other neighbors front yard All the best to you and yours right now, Bob...if I was closer, I'd be there to help you hunt for stuff and buy you a beer.
  16. Looking good, Bud. The dash is a neat touch.
  17. Don Coatney put a 73 Satellite rear end under his Plymouth. I think he said it was almost a bolt in. He has links to his Photobucket in his posts and he has a whack of great pics in the album. I've been looking for a Satellite rear end for my 49 for quite a while...few and far between up here.
  18. When I popped mine out, they looked OK from the outside but were very badly rusted from the inside. They would have failed very quickly once the engine was running...best to replace them all.
  19. The last pic of the old warhorse sliding onto the deck truck shows the front wheel fairly good and it doesn't look like it's out of place the way it would be if the frame was bent. A good frame shop should be able to repair the frame from that accident anyway. The rest can be repaired easily I think. Wasn't "Plywood" as bad or worse? Sad to see an old Mopar injured, but it would be even worse to see it scrapped. It's in better shape as is than my 49 Chrysler is in.
  20. We only had the hydraulic in floor type and I have never heard them refered to as anything but a hoist. The electric 4 and 2 posters are called lifts, racks, hoists and tables by some...just makes me feel old
  21. That would have been the 19th anniversary of my HS grad
  22. Pictures http://www.jerryandrewsauction.com/jun3/photos/photoindex.asp
  23. How right you are, Don. It's great that they are OK, but they still lost the house and most of what was in it so their life is turned upside down. Top that off is the fact that their city has been dealt a hard hit. That's alot to take at once. I wish there was something we could do to help. I'm not gonna b!tch about our crappy winters and crappy summers anymore.
  24. Looking very nice. No rush, you know. Take it easy. I haven't been able to do anything on my car for 2 yrs...I know what you mean about feeling like an old man. I'm lucky to get 2 good hours in before I'm out of gas completely. I really like the look of the ute type body on your truck...makes it look more civilized. Or is that civilised?
  25. Bob, our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours and the whole city. Glad you are OK.
