  1. Love the shack!, and LuLu too of course. What's in the shack?
  2. I took this one of my first 49 Chrysler back in 1972 in Glenmore Park in Calgary. Took this one of my dog BeeJay back in 1990 in Spruce Cliff. He was bounding up and down happy as a lark and I caught him for one second on the ground.
  3. Nice to see those rigs being restored and displayed. They surely are a piece of history...reminiscent of a great car industry shot to he!!. I think we all lived through the very best of it and the most fun of it as well. Maybe they will inspire a new generation to put the fun and excitement back into the biz
  4. Ed, did you ever do a "How I did It Article on your install. I think I recall one about the time you did the disc brake article in a magazine. Which column and wheel are pictured??? What box is it hooked to?? Thanks Pat
  5. Please Do!!! And WELCOME!!!!!!! We really like pictures too
  6. One of the 3 engines my old 49 Chrysler had swapped into it over the years was a 55 Plymouth engine (Canadian 25 inch) The Fluid Drive set-up bolted up to it just fine. The drop in horses was quite noticeable though. I can't recall if the Plymouth was standard or automatic, but automatics were very rare in those up here.
  7. Welcome! Nice truck... No FNG require to be here though...the truck means you already belong. This is a great spot on the 'net.
  8. I think sometime in the 49 run the relay was eliminated. If there is one it should be on a bracket to the air cleaner.
  9. Welcome to the forum. Very nice DeSoto...I like the visor alot.
  10. Maybe them armadilla's aint that good a eats http://www.sun-sentinel.com/health/la-he-leprosy-armadillos-20110428,0,5983461.story
  11. The pistons in my 1949 251 were similar at the top...also missing the skirts on 2 and a broken valve as well. Original owner said it ran well, but made a bit of racket!
  12. Ya...but did you count all your marbles???;)
  13. You'll be joining the ranks of flathead expert soon if not already.
  14. Ditto here as well! WELCOME!!!
  15. Boy, THAT sounded familiar:eek:...http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v20/psatchwill/1957%20Nash%20Rambler%20Custom/?action=view&current=MVI_0003.mp4 It's my 56 Nash Rambler last year. Turned out to be a bent pushrod that had fallen off, leaving a valve remaining closed.
  16. So, the Motor Vehicles Department is a department from another planet no matter which country it's in on THIS planet? They are out to lunch here as well. Nothing makes any sense and the rules change when you go to a different outlet a few miles away!
  17. The long neck champagne is a familiar sight on our 50's pictures as well... How would the folks of the current generation deal with a kitchen like that? No granite and no island!!!!! They'd be unable to function:eek:
  18. According to 70 Years of Chrysler by G.H. Dammann, the 241 was called the "Gold Seal Six"...the 251 came out in 1942. The book had no mention of "Spitfire" but I have an ad from 1941 that mentions the "Spitfire", a popular fighter of the era. So, the name Spitfire likely began with the 251 and the US entry into the war.
  19. That was funny!!
  20. That was good...it makes me feel old seeing hotrods displayed in a museum though There was a day that hotrods were as far from mainstream museum status as you could possibly get. Now, whether some like it or not, they are a big part of automotive history. Re: the Chrysler Turbine car. Jay Leno has one, and has a video on his site where he actually takes it out for a drive...awesome car when seen driving on a city street. Say what you want about Leno, but he's got the guts to drive 'em.
  21. Welcome to the forum. I'm sure many of us would enjoy a build thread on your Plymouth. The purist guys here have been tolerating us very kindly here...quite a few updates and mods on alot of cars. This is the best forum on the 'net by far. Pat
  22. Welcome home to Alberta...I hope you waved as you passed through Cowtown. You guys had an amazing trip...thanks for taking us along with you.
  23. Looks good Joe... Is the same base color used for all species of wood you would want to replicate?
  24. You could probably use the T-5 behind the Fluid Coupling, that would really be different...good idea Greg.
  25. You could consider the T-5...that swap seems to be quite popular and user friendly when done.
