Yeah, Tim, I think I did. I hate to think of the prices, just the radio and steering wheel paid for the car, not to mention the Peckat visor...even with the bit of damage. 49 Chryslers are rare as hens teeth up here as well. They rusted out real good. I got it in the back yard behind the big fence/gate just in time for our new city bylaw that says they all have to run or be close to driveable. Someone needs to complain for them to come out so I'll cover it up and cross my fingers.

This one, my main project car, the 50 DeSoto and my high school driver '49 Chrysler all came with Armstrong. I think the first PS was 1951/2, but I've never seen one up here. 1953 Chrysler with PS was fairly common up here.

What is the best way to loosen and remove the Phillips head door Hinge bolts? I have 4 to remove from the DeSoto parts car and can't seem to budge them. I seem to recall a tool that fit the head and was struck by a BFH to loosen the bolt but can't recall what it was called or even if that would be the way to remove the bolts. I don't want to have to drill 32 of the beggars!! Thanks Pat

Got all the ducks in a row and my nephews gooseneck again to get the Chrysler parts car home today. It was in a rural area just north of the city a short distance. Easy to load and tie down but we didn't check the exterior sun visor, and discovered very quickly that it was just held on by the closed doors jamming the tabs in place. Did a bit of extra damage but at least it didn't fly off into someone's car:eek: . A veritable treasure trove of parts this one is. No more non-running crap can follow me home 'cause there's no bloody room and no bloody money left!! Original engine, complete and with the correct engine number (C-45). Not sure why it's red, and not sure if it's free (no belt) M6 transmission. Complete dash with radio, clock, left side ash tray, good steering wheel, good padded dash, and the toe board cover escaped the surrounding rust and is in great shape. Now I have two good ones Note the ebrake lever is dash color and not red. Note the custom exposed aggregate floor treatment:p

Seems to me a company is doing something wrong by discounting 30+ million people because of some minor border issues. We don't ALL live in igloos and drive dogsleds!!! One or two of us even have indoor plumbing and running water! I wouldn't want the misfortune to deal with idiots like that anyway.

Rodney mentioned in his Studebaker thread that he had been chasing his dream 57 Ford Convert for 35 years. Hope it turns up, Rodney:) Got me thinking that the reason I have my 49 Chrysler Coupe can be traced via a straight line to my youth as well. I grew up around an identical Chrysler, it's in a whack of family pictures, I coveted it all my childhood and I was finally able to buy it. The grin on my face that day was almost permanent. We tend to forget the real bad times and I have and I really missed that car. When this one turned up after 25+ years of looking, I pounced on it, and it's something I'll never sell. So, how many of you can trace a line from your old car, Mopar or not, to your youth? Stories please...

Prices around here are still pretty ridiculous for the most part. A few sensible guys but they are in the minority. e.g.: 60 Chev Biscayne, 4 door, 3 on the tree, 6 cylinder, a #5 car not running asking $3500. Nuts.

Try the mid 80's Dodge Ram truck for the fronts...very simple and easy, Early 90's Lincoln Town car for rear shoulder belts...not all had them but also simple and easy.

Were kinda insulated from much of the bad for the time being but it's gonna hit the fan here soon, I can just feel it. Your falling dollar caused ours to rise to par, making our formerly cheaper export items very expensive, so dropping demand for them. Rising oil prices make our oil worth more so more money for gov't but NONE sees it's way to the slob on the ground trying to get by. It's all so artificial and phoney-baloney it makes me ill.

A real entreprenuer would give it away WITH ICE!!!
