  1. I believe that type of switch will not allow the door to close, I tried one. Need the screw head kind.
  2. Boy, its a good thing I save receipts,,,, www.collectorsautosupply.com 888 772 7848 Part # 1439748 Switch, interior light. $20 apiece. And yes, work with 6 volt.
  3. Pretty sure you can buy these from old parts people. They are stock on the passenger side of P23s. I purchased three more to put in every door. I do not know if your thread is the same however..
  4. I think thats true today also, unfortunately.
  5. Maybe the F is for fast,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  6. It has the same stamp on top also. Was just easier to take a picture of this location. I have the build sheet on the car, I thought it would specify but doesn't. I know the 390 was standard with 410 a option for hilly country. The car was shipped to Mesa AZ. BTW the car was born on June 12, 1952 Guess I could jack it up and do the wheel spin test.
  7. This is also stamped on the top of my rear end,, not a 410 not a 390? What ratio is this one? 397?? Thanks,
  8. Seen you post that before,, thats quite a piece of work. I cant see where you crossed over from the manifold to the other side? I was thinking of lake pipes but with my car already lowered I am banging the oil pan as it is. Next on tap is a skid plate for it.
  9. What a awesome sound. Just had that done to my car. I was running the split manifolds into one pipe and muffler with a stinger exhaust out the center of the car for about a year since I put the dual set up on the car. Found the smithy's, and a good pipe bender. Car sounded so good I picked up my lady friend and drove through Niles Canyon here about 11 pm..... The rapping sound bouncing off the hills,, I was 16 again, but this time I owned the car I was riding in....
  10. The rear end ratio is stamped on top of the diff correct? I'm going under there again tomorrow. I swear I thought it said 4.10 last time I looked. Someone said only 3.9 came with my car. P23 Cranbrook
  11. I like the opera version,,,,
  12. Cool Idea.......
  13. I am not sure if they made the fix since they first came out. But the Pt's U turn radius was about the same as a 18 wheeler. Actually I think the 18 wheelers were tighter. Not very good for a small runabout. I have a good Friend who was high up in DC until retirement 2 years ago. Still very close to the company. Said this new ownership can do alot more things now to get on the positive side of the sales as they have less government control over them now?????
  14. Here is my horn ring for my 52 Plymout Cranbrook 4door. Looks pretty close to me. The center looks like mine also.
  15. wow,, your right, sorry bout the noise
  16. Not sure about this site's sense of humor. If you find it to crude I take it off and not post anymore...... I thought it was kind of funny. http://s148.photobucket.com/albums/s40/jd52cranbrook/Jokes/?action=view&current=PenguinJoke.flv
  17. Sounds like my crew,,,,, A young family moved into a house, next to a vacant lot. One day, a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers. Eventually the construction crew, all of them "gems-in-the-rough," more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope containing ten dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who suggested that she take her ten dollars "pay" she'd received to the bank the next day to start a savings account. When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own pay check at such a young age. The little girl proudly replied, "I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us." "Oh my goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?" , , , , , , , , , The little girl replied, "I will if those assholes at Home Depot ever deliver the f*ckin' sheet rock..." Kind of brings a tear to the eye - doesn't it?
  18. Yep, great pics Pete. I agree, the OD is the way to go with cars you intend to drive. I went from San Jose, CA to Detroit two years in a row with my P23 with OD. I admit the first time was with stock motor and it did struggle up hills. The second year with a lot of bells and whistles done to the engine. Ran up every climb in 3rd OD, having to down shift out of OD twice I think. Just now back on the road after pulling the motor to fix leaks documented earlier by Pete in the rear seal, plus two other areas. (Can't believe no leaks in about 200 miles, but its true). I can cruise at 70mph no problem, but around here, no one goes even 70 anymore,,,,,,,
  19. Well said
  20. Classy guy, At the risk of have eyes rolled at me. You quoted the unit worked for 4 months. Seems to me the circuitry would have to be right for it to work that long without problems. How long should one expect a warantee on a used, or rebuild item to last? Having said that. I have a small issue with my OD everytime I put the tranny back in the car after pulling it. I test it, and know the circuitry is right, soooo I end up pulling the soilenoid, testing it on the bench, put it back in, and wa la, it works for some reason. Never to fail again, until the next time I pull out the tranny. Even before I pull it, I test the claw to see if it is still connected to the tranny, it is.
  21. Jane and Arlene Jane and Arlene are outside their nursing home, having a drink and a smoke, when it starts to rain. Jane pulls out a condom, cuts off the end, puts i t over her cigarette, and continues smoking. Arlene: What in the hell is that? Jane: A condom. This way my cigarette doesn't get wet. Arlene: Where did you g et it? Jane: You can get them at any drugstore. The next day, Arlene hobbles herself into the local drugstore and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a box of condoms. The pharmacist, obviously embarrassed, looks at her kind of strangely (she is after all, over 80 years of age), but very delicately asks what brand of condom she prefers. (OK, are you ready for this??) "Doesn't matter Sonny, as long as it fits on a Camel." The pharmacist fainted.
  22. Looks good in print. It's at 12 K now which would be a nice price for it I bet. I agree the buy it now is way out. But a really nice looking car just the same. Needs my motor in it to finish it off. :D
