  1. Wow... all that trouble because Dodge geared down the 3/4 ton trucks by simply changing the wheel to a smaller diameter. The 1/2 ton came with 16" wheels and adding disk brakes to the front end was a piece of cake because the caliper fits within the wheel. Keep us posted on your decision guys Dennis
  2. Found this add on Craigs list today.. just a couple of mistakes its listed as a 1942 looks like a "c" series from the dash however the parking light looks 48-50. Price is also a bit steep for what I view as a parts truck forgot the link and now its listed as a 1952 which looks correct on the dash Dennis http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cto/895879494.html
  3. Normally I get to sit home on Sunday night but tonight we have a outing so I'll miss. My only contribution is that after a oil change and a new pan gasket next week, I'll be tucking my truck away for the winter. Dennis
  4. Looks like you'll need to remount the disk brake to the front of the rotor. I suspect that the rotor will hit the shock when you turn the wheel. I had the opposite problem on the Pilothouse pickup. Much easier to change the position of the caliper than the position of the shock mount on the pickup. Dennis
  5. I see that this thread is way old but the original question is "who has stock Master Cylinder" I converted over to front disk brakes last May and used the original MC and did not add anything else like balance valves. Brakes work great without upgrading the master cylinder. Whats the deal, if it ain't broke...... keep fixing it til it is? Dennis
  6. My wifes Hyundai Tucson 2.7L V6 has a shop charge of around $300 to change the plugs. Seems that the exhaust manifold has to be removed to get at the spark plugs. I ain't about to pull a manifold to change a spark plug. Sorry Honey, take it to the garage. Dennis
  7. Permission from us to buy that convertible....... Dennis
  8. I recommend Google gmail. I've used it for three or four years and find it to be terrific. I also have Yahoo but I use that only for commerical stuff, like when I register something and they ask for a E-mail account, I give out Yahoo. I like Gmail much better. Interesting side lite of google is the advertisements that tag along when you open your mail. they have a program which scans your e-mail then they attach ads which match your senders topic. Kinda.... I've gotten a lot of laughs over some of the ads that appear when my buddie send me stuff such as models on the beach etc. Some folks would be offended by such a program scanning your e-mail but I'm highly amused. 10. Stock rims work great with radial tires. I just did a search for the topic of radial and came up with a few posts on the topic. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=2435&highlight=radial Bottom line is that the LT215/85/16R size is available for modern pickups and works on the narrow old rims but they are just slightly larger than the 600x16 stock size and causes the speedometer to be about 10mph slow. The other warning is to use a two piece metal valve stem to compensate for the oval holes. And it is not necessary to use tube inside. Sorry but I don't have a nice picture of the wheels alone. Dennis
  11. I think is was their engineers thinking about safety. My 1971 Plymouth station wagon had the gas filler on the right (passenger) side and most other makes had them on the drivers side. Drove me nuts to drive into the gas station and have a ford on the far pump facing you. No orderly in and out. I was told at that time that the Chrysler Corp was concerned about safety and didn't want a vehicle that ran out of fuel getting a fill can on the traffic side. Down side of course is that you can get siphoned while parked and no one would notice. Dennis
  12. Yep, all of the pilothouse trucks have only the one lock on the passenger side door. Logic suggests that Dodge was interested in safety and wanted the door locker standing on the parking side of the road. One has to either pull up on the drivers door handle to lock it, then slide across the seat and exit on the passenger side, missing the shift in the process. Or exit and walk around and reach across to lock the door, then shut and lock the passenger door. I leave mine open most times I park it. Dennis
  13. I was able to find a set of plates for my Pickup but they were from a car and when I went down to register them, I found that Minnesota reused the number series on collector plates so I couldn't use the plates that I purchased. Later, I found a set of plates for a truck with a T in it and that was the key to make that number series unique and I was able to register them as my offical plates for my pickup. Dennis (the other one)
  14. I got mine from Roberts and I installed it with the fenders off. I screwed up just a bit when I didn't extend it far enough. I used pop rivets to attach it to the fender edge. Dennis
  15. If you want to compare rates, you need to look at the charge for each KWH or kilowatt hour rate the power company charges. Here in Minnesota, our rate averaged .097 (just about a dime per kwh) Our average was around $70 per month with a peak of $150 in August because of airconditioning. I live in a townhouse and my neighbor is always crabbing about his electric bill. I tell him to use a automatic thermo stat on his a/c usage, remove any item with a transformer on it when not in use (amazing how many phone chargers are plugged in 24/7) change out your light bulbs to the dumb looking coil dealies. Go to sleep when its dark and wake up when its light. Use only one refer, no extra freezer use a gas water heater or use an off peak electric unit. Dennis
  16. I have the same tubless tire and keep them at 45 PSI Care to invite me on your tour? My Delano Dodge show is cancled. Dennis
  17. Eric, in a 6 volt radio, all of the tube heaters are in Parallel,(all of the tube numbers will start with 7 for 7 volts) same with 12 volt. The only time they were in series was for higher voltages so the combination of all of the tubes 6Be6,12AX7,and 35.... all added up to 110 volts or so. Some times they used a resistor to make the series add up to the rated voltage of the radio. My present project I have a 602 and a 802 and I tested the tubes in both with a sencor testor. All of the tubes light up in both radios meaning that the fiaments work but the 802 has five bad tubes and the 602 has only one bad tube. I'm going to fix the 602 first and then decide if I'll use the 802 as a donor chassis. Anyway, more than you wanted to know, but if a tube doesn't light, it is bad, and if a tube lights up, it isn't necessarly good. Dennis
  18. The 604 is manufactured by Colonial Radio, use the link to nostialgia Air and do a search. You will get the tube charts and schematics. Unless your plymouth has had its polarity changed, the chassis is positive and the lead is for the negative terminal. This is espically important if you are the one with the electronic vibrator. Wrong polarity will blow them out right now, no second chances. I've been fooling around with a couple of radios and have not purchased the electronic vibrator yet. Dennis
  19. Nice looking suvivor http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cto/849961677.html
  20. I bought a cheap ($15.00) and I had intended to just pull the guts out and mount it inside a 602 chassis. So far I've just tossed it into the glove box and tune it from there. I use a 12v inverter to power the thing. I originally tried to use a mopar radio from a kcar but it had a remote solid lc display that I screwed up. Dennis
  21. Worse nightmare for a old car guy. I thought about that yesterday while driving my 49 pickup around. My thought was that if you pull out with that Japanese tin, I'll roll right through it. Interesting to see the damage that you caused. Need any help, My pickup is close at hand. Dennis in Monticello
  22. Because our stock narrow rims have a oblong valve hole, a normal rubber tubless valve may leak. These metal two piece valve stems are recommended. I run tubless on mine and I love them Dennis
  23. This one looks pretty good if someone is looking for a project close to Minneapolis Minnesota http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cto/843494458.html
  24. Try Nostalga Air specifically for the Philco Model 802 http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/846/M0013846.pdf Dennis Sullivan
  25. Bob, I sent you a message about viewing pictures from this site. Turners Junk yard actually works. Dennis
