Hello Folks! O.K., as they say, there are no dumb questions, so I will now test that quote. This is a multiple question, so maybe I'll start here. 1. In 1950, did Dodge make the Wayfarer model? Was this to be titled a D34? 2. If in fact the State title (Pennsylvania) was naming this 1950 Dodge as a "Wayfarer" is this a problem? From what I remember, the Wayfarer was named as one of the models starting in 1951 a long with the Meadowbrook, and the Custon Coronet. This Wayfarer would also be considered being a D41 and the other two being a D42. Just in case, this is a stock 6 cylinder car, not a stock 8 (if even possible). O.K., now onto the second part of this question. The fellow I know that is buying this car is an owner of a car lot. He will be buying this car to re-sell. Honestly, I do not know what he is paying for the car, nor did I ask. The question asked of me, by him was about the "worth" of this 1950 (Wayfarer?) as a re-sale car. Any input??? It is a solid, two door sedan, all stock. A bit cheesy on the passenger floor, but all other panels are solid. Still has a "shine" to the paint. I am not real sure what the condition is of the interior, but I assume that it has the typical issues that can be expected. Nothing above or beyond that. New brakes, and it will "go down the road, and stop". I really appreciate any input, and opinions from everyone, no matter what yours may be. Thank you all for your time, and replies.

Attended Wednesday, it was raining cats and dogs in the morning, then cold and windy the rest of the day till 4:00 when all hell broke loose once again! I agree, after that, the weather was wonderful! I left Friday morning, and was happy, in general with the show. I am starting to see a pattern of non-auto related items being snuck in though....Hope that the powers that be nip this in the bud before it turns into a lawn ornament show like some of my local shows have. All in all, a great time, as usual.

I have two of those units, both in their original boxes. Plus, those boxes are in the original MoPar counter display box right from the dealership! As of now, I do not wish to part with this historical display, but would be glad to answer any tech questions that I can.

I've got one spectacular NOS one, still in the box and plastic wrap. Rock solid and perfect in every manor. If interested....

I've always used the approach to see Hershey for the all so many things that you will NEVER see anywhere again. This could be parts or simply autos that you never knew existed! It is a wonderful experience that lasts from season to season. If you happen to find something that you simply can not live without, then that is a bonus. I've been lucky enough to have attended the past 12 years, seen lots of changes, most of them positive. The paving of the old golf coarse was a good idea, it always seems to rain while the show is on, and in the early days, the mud got knee deep in spots! Now, a good pair of shoes are a must to keep comfortable walking black top all day. Got to admit, I do miss the White Field....

Well, it's that time of year again! Anyone planing on going? Pray for no rain!!!

Actually, I did! They found a few Ford Mustang items, but nothing else was "old". Seems most of these items were not moved out with the old owners, so they had no idea what to do with them. Guess that I am pretty lucky to have found at the very least, a MoPar part, even though I had no idea as to what it was. Thanks again Guys. I think I may spend more time looking down the road, then looking down neighborhood driveways!!!

Hey Johnny S., I believe you are correct! Thank you, and the others for your time and replies. Hummm, I guess all there is to do is buy the rest of the car, or find it a good home. I'll first see how it looks on the garage wall, unless someone on the forum really needs it. Again many thanks!

Ever find yourself quickly pulling off the road to see what you think may be a treasure at a garage/tag sale? Well, it happened to me this weekend. Walked away from it not once, but twice then bought the darn thing. The closer I got to my home with my "treasure", the more I thought to myself "what in the world did you buy that for!" Now, all I know is that it is SUPPOSE to be MoPar, who knows. I probably would feel better knowing that it is. Can someone give me positive identification on this? Thanks Guys. I can hear the laughter already!!!

Thanks for all the information! Ken, thanks for your photos, and your time too. Well, it looks as if I can be armed for swap meet season. Wish me luck!!! I suppose to find a "set" is going to be quite a task. I wish that there was a part number, or something that would give me a clue as to what the item is, and what side it is for. Gotta love them ol' MoPars!!!

Ken, Thanks for the photo! Gosh, now I guess I have several additional questions! First, if this is simply a "cover", then how is the actual "hinge" held to it? I do not see any screws or such. Could it be a static fit? Second, are there ANY MoPar part numbers either cast, or stamped on these higes/covers? Third, I guess I best ask if these are in fact side specific, so if and when I find these do I need to make sure that I do not actually have two rights and two lefts? I would also be very grateful to see other photos if that is not too much trouble. Maybe of the detail where the hinge flexes. This way, I would have something in my pocket to compair with if I do run across anything similair. Now, the $25,000 question, yep, I bet you knew it was coming...Does any other hinge work as a replacement? Thanks Ken, and others that may answer...

Hello folks, Would someone be so kind as to post a photo of original external, chromed trunk hinges, both the top and the base for a 1940 Plymouth Coupe. Twice now I have purchased what was suppose to be "correct", and twice I was mislead. Any photos, especially any close ups would help me as I scout the swap meet tables. Thank you!

Thanks to one and all for chimeing in on my question. Lots of great answers, and plenty to now consider. If I was to change back to "normal" oil, what weight would you guys recommend for MY situation? Regular straight 30 weight, or 10W30? Any complications changing back from Mobile1 to regular oil? Again, I appreciate all your comments.

Hum, do I not have to worry about any condensation in the "old" oil? My car is in a new tight garage, but it is not heated. I notice that the hubcaps and bumpers on some change over weather days get damp. If I WAS to change out the oil, with Mobil 1 would you use 10W30 or 10W40? I notice that I seem to "burn" a bit more oil useing Mobile1, am I just foolinf myself? or does this kinda make sence? Thank you!

Tried to find my answer in the past posts, but nothing that I could find directly address my question, so, here goes. After sitting for about 9 months my 41 Plymouth needs to live once again. Question is, after sitting this much time, should I simply drain the old oil out now,,,OR, should I start the motor and drain the oil after it is warmed up? Sounds like a silly question, but my first thoughts were since the "gunk" has had plenty of time to settle in the pan, just drain it out BEFORE starting the motor and stirring all that has settled up. The motor is a fresh rebuild, (about five years ago to bare block) and only has had three oil changes, not because of mileage, only about 300 miles) but because of time. I run Mobil 1 in it with no issues What would you do? Thank you.

The grill bars on a 41 are not factory "finished" on the end like the 40. They are simply factory sliced off. The 40 grill bars have a neat, folded over finish to them. All models used the same bars per year.

I'm more curious about the parking light housing on the top of the fender! I am assuming that this is a 40 Plymouth fender...

If you need just the chrome shifting knob, you can remove it. This takes time and mostly patience. It does not screw on at all, but is pushed on with very fine splines. Even pressure, not tapping from side to side will remove the knob. I have only done this to re-chrome the knob. It was again a bit of a trick to install. Probably would not do this again, but live and learn...

Wow, pretty nice car! Especially for the money. Personally, I believe THIS particular car is too much of a fine original to fool with. I knew I should have built a bigger garage!!!

There is a three position toggle switch that you should look for. I believe that the above photo shows that you have found it. Check the wires from there. Merry Christmas back to ya!

I also have a NOS piece. Gotta tell ya, it is as good, and as solid as the day it was made!(even though it is hollow) It is factory sealed in clear plastic, and never been touched, well maybe by the person that sealed it so many years ago...Has been kept under the correct conditions to keep it pristine.Someday I might even own a P-15 to put it on!!!

I'm not certain that this is the "spot" to advertise, so sorry, in advance if I am breaking the rules. I simply wanted to state that I have the original, clear insert, brand new old stock, not a repo. but with the DPDC stamp in/on it if anyone is interested. It is factory sealed in plastic and never been touched. I have owned this part for many years, thought was that someday, I would own another P-15, but that has not happened. Asking $125.00. If is PERFECT in every way. Again, sorry if this posting is not legal and needs removed, I understand. Thanks All!!!

Can't wait to go! Even though it marks the end for nice weather here in the N.E. I'm thinking sunny and 65 degrees! Now that everything in on black top (except some of the green field) I'm leaving my wadeing boots at home, and bringing more aspirin for my aching leg joints!

Hey Guys, Thanks for all your suggestions! I decided to look at Kepich website, but could not find any listings for Plymouth's??? Am I missing something on their site?? Thanks!

I have found myself in need of a new exhaust system for my 1941 P-12. I know that many of you have found yourselves in the same boat. Can you give me some tips? Some things to stay away from? Go with a typical metal pipe? Or, should I go with stainless? Do these systems come with mufflers and hangers? Do they all "fit" as they should? As you can tell, I am wide open for your recommendations, experiences, and suggestions. Thanks for your input!
