Oh yes I will, with a poly tarp for loose stuff and a sheet of OSB or spruce ply for aother stuff, still gonna be sued for work and haulin......

Like it or lump it, the floor is now finished, I do have a another skid strip coming my way. This will be added to the center, at that point. This is not again a Horkey or Mar K floor, but is not too bad. Of course it would look much beatter with the box all painted nicely, but thats another project.. Before and after pics

Hey that turned out real nice..........Fred

Thanx Guy, the whole project cost about $100.00 for plywood, hardware/bolts, stain. Now I realize it is not Horekys, it would look great witha freshly painted box, and brand new strips, but this isa user/driver truck, someday She may get all gussied up like my other old doll.

Hi Merle, and thanx, plan to use some type of fastner, most likely 2 carriage bolts to match...

I have some progress on this bedwood on the cheap. Again this is a functional to be used to actually haul wood, bricks whatever, as needed. I still need 30 carriage bolts to complete the job, it don't look all that great, but it works and was cheap. This ain't know Horkeys or Kmart floor, but Fir G1S 3/4 inch marine plywood. Once I paint the box inside and out she will look better, but this will do for now, and all is stable and solid, and is much better that what I started with...

looks real good Chris, glad all is coming together for you..............Fred

Thanx TP, 1st site has almost the identical to my motor, but its 12 volts, may go that route. Heres a test I did today, Tim Adams also has posted results of a similar test. On the bench I used a ignition coil ballast, not sure how many watts there rated at, but wired it to a 12 volt battery, then connected to my 6 volt heater motor, it got very warm in a few minutes. I did not do an Amp reading, but in order touse a ballast, it would have to be pretty beefy for a heater motor. Mind you, heaters are used in cool/cold weather, so possibly it would not be as critical, as if the same motor was sued for AC in hot weather. I have found a 50 watt 12 to 6 volt reducer, for $10.95, if it works, the price is right. I don't think there are to many voltage droppers that work that great with heater motors, if someone wants to refute this, and tell what they did, I would appreciate it........

Thanx Wayne, going to try and source a 12 volt motor for this heater. The light swich should havea realy, but at least with the 12 volts it should have 1/2 the amp draw as it would have with the 6 volt bulbs it was built for, plus the 30 amp stud circuit breaker is there too. I have found in my parts a voltage regulator for the gauges, this will help with my heat and gas gauge too...

Hi all, have done aquite a bit of reading on this , did the searches, looked at my old posts, and still am not 100% sure how I might proceed. My heater box for the truck is 6 volt, and it does not like a diet of 12 volts, that I have, the heater switch gets red hot on either speed real quick, a lot of amperage draw. I have the box on the bench, motor is out, it looks very similar to the motor blueskies Pete used, with the exception of the mounting studs are on the opposite side of the motor case. I could also order a 50 watt voltage dropper, my concern with these is, will they get super hot, and will they cause a fire, neither of which I want. I have no qualms about using 1 of these dvices, as long as it works and is safe. My other option is a 12 volt motor, whcih I will try and find on Monday. My 3rd concern is the beat up heater control switch, should I replace it with modern, for safety sake. I am alos tempted to change the headlight switch to to something modern and safer. I also found a voltage regulator on the back of a modern cluster, is that for reducing voltage to the gauges?? thanx Fred

55f outside right now, very sunny and no wind, snow melting like crazy, very unusual for us, when normal day time highs are about 30f, and getting to 40 or so, is not that uncommon but 55, and supposed to be close to 60 f this week. The lower control arm, is where I attached the tow strap with hooked ends, not a lot of places to tie on under this vehicle. The truck runs great joe, I have to deal with sloppy steering issues, the brakes are okay, but all the rear brake( 80s dodge 8.25 type, 3.23 ratio rear end), need to be replaced. The king pings are good, but need shocks all the way around, complete new exhaust, and swap steering boxes from donor truck. Thetruck starts fantastic witha 12 volt system, I have the truck completely re-wired now, all gaugues work ttoo, waint ona new 7 wire signal switch, as the one I had was super old and fried, I have the wiring all ready with bullet connectors to plug and play. 55 Fargo got to do some work today, 1st pulled 2005 Caravan out of the snow, when I slid off driveway, all melting and super slick likea Slurpee. Then it hauled the garbage trailer away too......

You 100% right, I tried to save the Old Yankee switch for nostalgia reasons. I even had the trucks brake drums all off yeaterday, the fronts (stock), looked not too bad, shoes evenly worn, no leaks, but drums need a trun bad, not sure why previous owner would not trun drums when installing new shoes, at least teh wear is even. The backs 80s Mopar 8 1/4 diff, 10 inch drums, slf adjusters obviously no longer working, shoes worn thin on 1 side, nobody did a manual adjusting on these. I will be replacing all components, as it is quite cheap even for new drums...

I also did the forum search, and found this pic posted by Blueskies. Although that heater motor looks very similar to mine, the mounting studs on mine are at the opposite end of the motor. Not sure if those motor case screws can be reversed or not....

I am contemplating this too, I can either go the voltage reducer route for the 6 volt heater box for my 12 volt 55 Fargo pickup. But are they safe and reliable, will they get too hot. I am either going this route, or I will try and find a 12 volt blower motor to fit into the heater box.

Hey all a few weeks back I repaired/rewired a Yankee 7 wire turn signal switch. It was working well, the lever would need a tap, if you used either signal side, so the brakes lights would work, so some type of bad connection, intermittently, even with new wires. Today was driving the old truck, up and down the road, and all ofa sudden, when coming toa stop, my signal switch started smoking. I stopped the engine right there, pulled battery ground cable off battery. I then undid the 7 wire harness, whcih I had bullet terminals on, and proceed on my way back home. Lesson learned, sometimes old electrical parts are not worth fixing...

Yup I would agree with Don, and total restiction with a winter front or cardboard in front of rad can make these old girls hot quick. I totally blocked my rad 1 time on a cold day, then was driving on the highway, the temp gauge quickly rose, I pulled over and pulled out the cardboard. Chris I would go for a ride again, without the winter front, you do not need it with the temps were having, heck I had my pressure washer outside today, have never done this on March 10th ever. Hills wind, and that winterfront are a recipe for high engine temps, especially when it is really not that cold out....

I dunno Chris, sometimes the darndest things happen, with this area. I would wire wheel and clean up both surfaces and go for it again, and use thread sealnt on the bolts. This was nota case of a shaft seal leaking is it? Instal anothergasket, and get her runnin.......

Hey Bob, have you any pics of how you fabbed and installed these MCs:confused:, was it firewall mounted or OEM....

Time to say so long to my 1949 Chrysler Project
55 Fargo replied to PatS....'s topic in P15-D24 Forum
Hey Pat, sorry to hear about this, I know this is not what you want to do, but sometimes things are beyond our health. I sure hope you are able to sell things quickly and at a good price. That car needs to go to a good home, and hopefully the new owner, will get her revived and on the road. Take care, and I hope you have better days to come................Fred
