  1. Radial piston airplane engine in a car? I would like to see how the transmission is arranged in this "vehicle"... Based on a 1937 Hudson? Those Edmunds&Jones headlights cost more than their weight in gold today.
  2. Thanks Donald, Yes we realized from the start that the sign was not intended to be funny or obscene, but the debate was over on if a native will see the double meaning or not. What I mean is that so common that no-one bother to chuckle on it... obviously not. Thus there is the risk for the owner to get jokes on beans every other day. B.r., "a 54 y. old teenager"
  3. Sirs, We (a band of finns) had a slight argument over the meaning of the below sign; Now, let me ask you, as you're english speaking natives; Would you calmly eat at "Sherrill's" before a date with a lady of your dreams or, say, a job interview?
  4. Hyvää Joulua! in Finnish. Sorry I cannot think any phonetic, because in english language you do not use any vocal close to our "y" or "ä" Just a tip: in finnish language every written letter is pronaunced. "God Jul" in swedish, thats "Good Christmas" direct translation, for some reason the word good is written "Gott" when wishing "Gott Nytt År" - Good new year.
  5. Merry Christmas to all the good people at the P15-D24 forum! All you Friends of mine, I've never (so far) met in person. You are important to me. Best wishes, Uncle-Pekka
  6. Fred, I never drive my ol' Dodge btw. end of Sept...beg. of May, the weather is unpredictable, wet, snow or ice. Also they put salt on the roads and I do not want to get it between the frame & floors at all. I'm not sure though do I get the goodies installed this winter yet. I am getting the carbs and headers by George Asche, but still looking for the intake. The AoK intake was not ready for deliveries yet and the prices for vintage Edmunds' are way over my wallet... Of course I will post here what I'll do and how does it work out. Cheers, Pekka
  7. Big Thanks & my hat off to Mr Tim Kingsbury & Mr George Asche Jr., Tim has spend a lot of time on corresponding with Yours Truly, teaching the basics in flathead six hopping up. Much more than that, these first class Gentlemen really walked an extra mile for me, building a pair of matching Carter carburetors & split exhaust manifolds and shipping them within a tight schedule (ruled by a shipping timetable of a sea container, which none of us could not influence) Well, they made it in time and saved me for a great deal of extra shipping cost. The rest of the story is bound to continue later on, when the container arrives here in Finland and I get to continue my project. I do strongly recommend the AoK boys for any consulting and supply of flathead Chrysler rebuild, hop up, tune up, blueprint jobs. Thanks, Uncle-Pekka from far-away, up-north Finland, the state with warm hearts for vintage well built American Cars.
  8. This may seem odd here, but I plan to return a favour for a friend... Should any of you have 1946...54 Ford F1/F2 truck hud caps to spare, please contact me. I look to buy a decent set and pay for them & domestic US shipping. The model as per below photo... Thanks, Uncle-P.
  9. Normally (my experience) the carburetor does not leak on the gaskets, but there are two places they fail: - the throttle valve shaft wears loose and gas leaks out (more important also air leaks in resulting bad mixture) - accelerator pump diagraph fails for old age or rubber not suitable for modern gas The latter can be mended by changing parts, but the first requires fitting sleeves on the carburetor body.
  10. Reading this thread I get that it's about oddities, for the most... However, I wanted to paste the below one, because it's Chrysler heritage but most of all because it has a magical glamour in it. Even if I'am not a big fan for the fwd look, this makes me want to own a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker (2DHT would suit our climate better than the convertible, though...)
  11. I misread the topic subject as "Drunk or Treat", thus opened in state of curiosity... However, appears to be nice & sweet thread. Apart from a couple of crankshaft, of course...
  12. Very refreshing clip... I enjoyed every crazy second watching. Also good practical example of the principle: "a rare car does not have to be desirable". (chew that, Tucker owners...)
  13. ...Arms of coat... ...but of course it has arms! - without arms it would not be a coat at all, but a vest! a wild vest. but it has no butt - had it butt them would be pants.
  14. Uncle-Pekka is a wardrobe designer now! I traced the logo from my D24 hub cap and made a painting pattern... The first job I tried it is my old leather jacket. I think my future look so bright I need to wear shades from now on... - or should I still keep my day job?
  15. Welcome to the forum and congratulations for finding such a beautiful well maintained survivor - Take good care of it. Are you aware of the Chrysler corp. historical collection service? Back in 2006 when I bought my car I merely wrote them a letter asking some questions of my car. I received a friendly letter telling the factory color and accessory codes of my car. I wasn't aware of any fee and they also did not ask me for payment, just very friendly and helpful service. I know there's been a lot of changes to Chrysler Corp ever since, but at least there's the below web page advertising history services still; http://www.mmcdetroit.com/Chrysler_Historical_References/ Hope this helps. good luck! /Pekka
  16. Some more photos... 18. Sorry for the messing up with the video posting and the links. The first Google+ links still work for me when I test them, but it may be they're restricted geographicly or groups... I do not master the google+ services (yet). Also the video is not any work of art movie, but rough document shot by using my cell phone. However, the road is very nice, built in the 50's on old grounds and still in use even if there's a big dull main road some 10 kms off to inland where majority of the traffic goes. I was driving to a swap meet/ car show in the morning, weather was just as good as it ever gets - however I messed up the first video I tried to shoot in the inbound trip. These clips were shot in the afternoon on my way back home, summer cottage. I'll be adding some photo's from the swap meet parking lot.
  19. Sorry, Then we try via flickr... blob:https%3A//www.flickr.com/e653b4d2-6ce8-4ba2-9efa-d3a068c559b3 http://blob:https%3A//www.flickr.com/e653b4d2-6ce8-4ba2-9efa-d3a068c559b3
  20. Let's try via pinterest... ...broken link removed... EDIT: Obviously does not work - turned the video to still image of the first screen...
  21. Let's see if the link will work for you... Please enjoy a ride in my D24 on a sunny August Saturday at the old coastal road between towns of Jakobstad and Kokkola on the Finnish west coast. https://photos.google.com/u/0/album/AF1QipOw1YDGOdd5vN58kV1f6CgU_lMxrCuDYYsifBgj/photo/AF1QipOdrA8GE3pJXMHnDlM3oUFEjh1Qax1kgcATU5KX https://photos.google.com/u/0/album/AF1QipOw1YDGOdd5vN58kV1f6CgU_lMxrCuDYYsifBgj/photo/AF1QipOS1wYkaeRrIU-HPRuL20j8Z591V4sMFneQwKy3
