grey beard Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 In my long and sorded life, I have NEVER seen a MoPar product that sat more than two years in one spot and stil had good brakes. This system seems to be the first one on these vehicles to fail. Having just said all this, I wouldn't give much for any used sixty-year-old truck master cylinder. I believe I'd pro'lly use my emergency brake to get back to the barn first . . . JMHO :) Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Gotta look at the add, Dave. It's not even a master cylinder, unless he just linked the wrong picture. It looks like it might be a water injection setup, or something like that. Merle Quote
JoelOkie Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 grey beard, I have to agree on the older mopar brakes. I have not had brakes that worked on any of the ones I have bought that sat any time at all. I gave up wheel and master cylinder kits a while back also. I get anything with Lockheed brakes I just go ahead and figure on a complete re-build with new stuff. I have stayed stock brakes, though, and have gradually gotten better at figuring and doing the adjustment, so they (stock) are working fine for me. I do not get into any city rush hour driving situations, so don't have to worry about some nut trying to put an 18 ' car into a 17' hole between me and someone else. Merle, I believe this thing is part of a windshield washer system, but having never had one on anything (old) it's just a guess. I also thought at first glance that he had the wrong pic with the wrong item, but the in-depth description he makes shoots that out of the water. What I am wondering is if anyone will buy it thinking it IS a Dodge master cylinder. Struck me as funny, though. Quote
brian hood Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I am not as experienced as some of you, nut I agree: thats not a master cylinder! Quote
Young Ed Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I think it could possibly be a brake fluid reservoir that mounts on the firewall and then taps into the lid of the actual master cylinder. Mopar sold a factory accesory one like that. Quote
