Hi all, a friend from work called today, he has a custom made blasting cabinet he does not want, I tell him I cannot come over and get it today, so he delivers it to me, now that's a true Gentleman.

The cabinet is a floor type, large with lights, and proper venting, it came with 3-5gallon pails of glass beads, price 24 of high-test Canadian Beer, (Now you US boys close to the Canadian border know what I mean), what a bargain.

I will post pics of it later, but does it ever work slick, tested it out, and man it does a nice job, the cabintet is a little large, but what the heck the price was right...........Fred

Norm this thing is huge, Fit an entire front swaybar in it from a 1990 Mustang, it was too tight to blast it though, rims will be no problem. Plan to keep it outsde, cover with a tarp, when not in use. Don't mind it taking up room in summer, as my garage is 24X34, but in winter all the vehicles are in there, so it will be outside or in one of the sheds..........Fred

Fred,

Great pick up.... its really worth it... I don't have room for mine that I traded for, and my buddy has it in his garage right now (using it for his challenger.. and I go from time to time to do my stuff...) its really worth it... now if I can get him to take an old oven in his garage as well, he'll be able to use my new powder coat gun...... :)

Fred,

Congrats on the cabinet. Those are great tools. I use mine almost every week. Be sure to have a dust collection system set up and running when you're blasting, even if just for a minute or two.

That dust will find a way out if you're blasting without a negative pressure on the cabinet and the dust blasting makes is seriously bad for your lungs.

I wish mine were large enough to blast my wheels in.

Fred, I'm pretty sure Princess Auto carries the gloves...they carry the cabinets from China, and the sand/beads etc.

Acklands-Grainger has them as well.

Fred, I'm still on hold, not able to do much. I said a while back to heck with doctors orders, but that wasn't too bright...set me back a while I think.

I putter some but nothing substantial.

My nephew ( I have 9 of 'em!) said he would put the master cylinder in the Fargo and help with seeing if it will start...may do that this weekend. I have all the parts.

Be nice to hear SOMETHING I have RUN!!

Is it possible to run baking soda through a cabinet? I've seen soda used on siphon blasters for body work.

Best.

ARTHUR

Not sure Arthur, I am using glass beads, nice finish with this product, don't see any reason to go with soda, on a car body yes, but small items, this glass bead is great.

Arthur, there are blasting cabinets for soda.... I think I may try my portable soda blaster in mine.... of course, the problem is the valve area on the blaster, because with my quick change system, my regular blaster switches to soda in 15 minutes, but the whole bottom valve system is changed.... so I think it is possible, but depends on the source for sending the soda.

Guys with the HF cabnets watch the pick up tube on there as they are very thin, after using mine for the past year or so it would not pick up the material anymore and went and found 3 big holes in it. I replaced it with a piece of 1/2 black iron pipe now she works!!
